“Enough.” David waved his hand dismissively, clearly unimpressed. “At this point, stop trying to pin everything on Josie.
“She was on my team for less than three years, and she managed to run 271 experiments.
“For every single one, she wrote up a full report. That alone is something you all should take a lesson from.
“If any of you had even half her dedication, I wouldn’t have to lose face like this today. Kyle, you’d better keep
that in mind.
“From now on, if you ever try to cut corners or mess with the experimental data again, don’t blame me for kicking you off the team.”
David stood up, hesitated for a couple of seconds, then stepped forward and kicked Kyle. “If you still see me as your mentor, then take this as a lesson from me.
“If you think I’m out of line, I don’t mind if you go to the Department of Student Affairs and report me for physical punishment.”
“I won’t, Professor.” Kyle bent over to take the kick. “I know you mean well.
“Thank you for giving me another chance, Professor.
“I swear, from now on, I’ll put my heart into my experiments and never let anyone else handle my lab work again.”
David pointed a finger at his face. “We will see.”
Those words made Kyle wish the ground would just swallow him up.
Kyle fumed inwardly, ‘Josie, why is it always her?
‘She has already left the team, so why is she still screwing me over? She has promised that she would never show her paper to anyone, never let anyone see her experimental data.
‘Why couldn’t she just keep her promise?‘
Right then, Kyle hated Josie more than he’d ever hated anyone in his life.
What Kyle didn’t realize was that all the experimental data and papers Josie had recorded were simply archived in the team’s shared folder.
If David hadn’t been so eager to prove Josie’s incompetence in front of everyone, Kyle wouldn’t have ended up losing all his dignity like this.

‘I hate her. I really hate Josie!‘ Kyle fumed inwardly.
“Alright, get up. Everyone should leave now.” Aiden helped him to his feet.
He asked, “Seriously though, all the experimental data gets saved in the team’s shared folder. Did you really not even check it before you started writing your paper?”
Kyle shook his head, disbelief written all over his face.
He said, “That experiment was my minor. I’ve been studying it for years, and Josie never had any experience with it at all.
“She only bothered to read two books just to help me out with the experiment.
“Even if she recorded every bit of the experimental data, there’s no way in hell her paper could be better than mine. Unless someone gave her a hand!”
Aiden’s eyes flickered. “Wait, you’re not seriously suspecting Vincent and Gavin, are you?”
“I don’t know.” Kyle shook his head.
He said, “I know I’m the least capable one on the team, so I’ve always tried my best. I never wanted to disappoint the professor, but in the end, I still let him down.”
