“Hmm?” Chloe looked up, puzzled. 

Brian turned to her and gently took her hands. “If you don’t mind having me around, then you have to keep your word and be kinder to me, alright?” 

Chloe let out a soft laugh when she saw the mighty Brian Steele acting like a helpless little boy. 

“Okay, I’ll be much kinder to you.” 

Hearing her promise, Brian grew so excited that it was impossible to hide it. 

He slipped an arm around her waist and lowered his head to capture her lips. The kiss started tenderly, as though he were afraid of startling her. 

But when she responded, he pulled her closer and deepened the kiss. 

When they stepped out of the bathroom, Chloe’s cheeks were flushed, her breathing was uneven, and her lips were a striking shade of red. A few faint marks lingered on her neck. 

Brian really was a charmer. 

For the first time, Chloe understood why people used that word. It fit perfectly, and it could apply to both men and women. In fact, she herself had nearly lost control in the bathroom just moments ago- 

She cut the thought short, refusing to dwell on what had happened. 

In contrast, Brian’s expression stayed calm, his breathing even, and he seemed entirely composed. 

“What’s wrong? Why are you staring at me?” Brian asked casually as he changed his clothes in front of her. 

“I just think you’re unusually composed, like what just happened was nothing out of the ordinary for you,” Chloe said. She knew Brian had never been caught up in gossip, but with his status, she assumed many 

women must have been around him. 

“Ordinary?” Brian let out a low laugh. He took Chloe’s hand and pressed it to his chest. “There’s nothing. ordinary about this for me. I’m not calm at all. Honestly, I’m nervous.” 

Beneath her palm, she felt the heartbeat pounding, as if to prove his words. 

“Chloe, you’re the first and only woman I’ve ever truly wanted. Whether it’s kissing or being together, you 

are the first, and you’ll be the last.” 

Chloe’s eyes widened in surprise. Was he saying that she’d taken his first kiss? 

The thought left her so stunned she could hardly believe it for days. 

Who would have imagined that the head of the powerful Steele family had never been kissed before? 

Looking back, she realized he’d been a little awkward during their first kiss and that she’d mostly taken

From then on, Brian came to her room every night, wanting to sleep beside her. At first, she tried to turn him away, but it was hard to resist his charm. 

And really, since she’d let him stay once, she figured there wasn’t much difference if he stayed over more 

times. 

Though they shared a bed, Brian never pushed too far. He would sometimes tease her, but in the end, he only held her hand as they drifted off to sleep. 

It was as if he would never cross the line without her permission. 

Meanwhile, news about Quall Group’s employees getting trapped on the island quickly spread online, with more reports surfacing by the hour. 

Naturally, Quall Group received widespread praise for how swiftly it had mobilized rescue efforts for its 

employees. 

One night, while Chloe was scrolling through the news on her phone, she unexpectedly received a call 

from a TV station. 

“Hello, is this Ms. Quall? We’re calling from a talk show for Yarfdale TV. We heard you were involved in the rescue efforts to save Quall Group’s employees five days ago. We’d like to invite you to share your experience on our show,” the caller said. 

Chloe declined without hesitation. “I’m sorry, but I’m not interested in appearing on a talk show.” She’d always disliked public appearances of that kind. 

“Oh, really? But all the other rescuers are going. Are you sure you won’t join us?” the caller pressed. 

“The other rescuers?” 

“Yes, including Ms. Sonya Miller. You both flew helicopters for the rescue efforts. You were amazing, and our show wants to highlight that kind of positive energy.” 

Chloe’s eyes darkened. Sonya actually had the nerve to go on a talk show? 

“Alright, I’ll go,” Chloe said. 

“That’s wonderful!” the caller exclaimed. 

After hanging up, Brian asked, “You’re really going on a talk show?” 

“Yes,” she replied. “Sonya will be there too. If she’s so eager to be on TV, then so be it. I have something for her too.”

Brian raised an eyebrow. “If you don’t want to deal with her, I can handle it for you.” 

Sonya was merely Vincent’s overlooked daughter. Even with her extra title as captain at AeroQuest Airlines, she was insignificant compared to Brian. 

If he decided to confront her, it would be far too easy. 

“It’s fine.” Chloe said. “I’ll handle the person I want to deal with myself. Besides, Sonya isn’t worth dragging you into this.” 

Brian didn’t press the issue. “Alright then. But whenever you need me, just say the word,” he said. 

He would do anything for her, no matter what she asked. 

On the day of the talk show’s recording, Brian accompanied Chloe to the TV studio. The staff froze when they saw him. 

Chloe hadn’t mentioned that someone as famous as Brian would be joining her. 

“Mr. Steele?” a staff member asked hesitantly. 

“I’ll just be in the audience,” Brian replied. 

The staff member swallowed hard. Having a studio audience was normal, but having Brian there as a spectator was unimaginable. 

Excitement lit up their faces. If the cameras caught him during the recording, the show’s ratings would surely skyrocket! 

Chloe and Brian were then led into the studio. 

Sonya was already seated on a couch, and when she spotted Chloe, her expression flickered before twisting into a sneer. 

“Chloe, I always thought you were so high and mighty and that you helped people without expecting anything in return. But it looks like all you care about is getting on TV and stealing the spotlight!” 

“At least I actually saved people. I’m not sure why someone who hasn’t saved a single person is even here, 

Chloe shot back.
