Chapter 45 

Mike was lying on his bed with a lot running through his mind at the moment, he’s yet to go on that date with May because of his current issue, he hardly goes out this days either, and it’s all because he’s trying to protect his own life, the police man assigned to him is always by his side, also the new bodyguard Adams got for him, this isn’t how he wants to live his life but he’s got no choice since his damn attackers are probably still lurking somewhere. 

He’s been trying to go to sleep for a while now but he just couldn’t, a lot was going on in his mind and that’s making it difficult for him to go to sleep. 

He angrily stood up from his bed. “This is crazy! I’m going out.” He grabbed his jacket, phone and car keys before leaving his 

room. 

When he got outside, his bodyguard and the police officer were both outside fulfilling their duties. When he got his bodyguard, he’d asked that the police officer should return to work and not bother guarding him anymore since he now has someone to guard him, but the man insisted on staying to guard him for a few more days, hoping his attackers would make a move soon and that’s going to be the perfect time to catch them. 

When both men saw Mike, they walked up to him. 

“Are you going somewhere?” The officer asked. 

“Yeah, just need to go out for a while to clear my head, maybe to the club or a bar.” 

“We’ll come with you.” 

“I…” Mike trailed, he heaved a deep breath before he continued. “I don’t think that’s necessary, I’ll be fine, and besides a few days has gone by and there’s been nothing about those guys, I really think they’re not going to come back so….I think I can be alone for a while.” 

The police officer nodded. “I get it that all this, having people guarding you at all times doesn’t really go down well with you, I know you don’t want this but you have to understand that all we’re doing is for your own good, that night you came to the police for help and that’s what we’re doing, it’s our duty to protect the lives of the citizens who are in any kind of danger. You’ll just have to put up with us for a little while Mr Mike, soon all this will be over and you’ll be back to your normal life, I can assure you about that.” 

“So please let us come with you, we have nothing to do around here, our only job is to guard you, so please let us do that.” 

Mike thought about this for a while, he figured it’s going to be pointless trying to argue with the man, he had no other option than to agree. “Fine, but I’ll drive.” 

“Absolutely.” The police officer replied with a smile. 

All three got into Mike’s car and he drove off. 

On their way to the bar, Mike noticed that the same car that was following him the other day was also following him now, he panicked and instantly told the police officer who was sitting beside him. 

“What!?” The officer then looked at the rearview mirror. “I see the car.” He announced. 

The bodyguard at the back sit was already flexing his muscles, feeling so prepared for anything that’s going to happen. 

“Well what are we going to do?” Mike asked calmly. 

“Just keep driving okay, I’m going to come up with a plan.” The officer quickly thought about what to do and he finally got an 

idea. 

“Okay, I’ve got a plan, you may not like it but that’s the only way to catch these guys, I’m 100% sure that they don’t know we’re in this car with you, they must probably think you’re the only one and that’s a good thing.”

“So, what’s the plan?” Mike asked. 

The officer adjusted himself in his seat, then he looked at Mike. “Listen to what I have to say very carefully, this plan must not fail.” He said with full seriousness, then he began telling them about the plan. 

Meanwhile, Eric and Marco literally have no idea that Mike wasn’t alone in that car, had they known that he wasn’t alone, they wouldn’t have bothered coming after him today for the fear of being caught. 

“Remember Marco, nothing must go wrong this time, when we get our chance we take him out, okay?” Eric said sternly. 

“Yeah I get it.” Marco replied. 

They followed Mike for a while, until his car finally stopped in front of a convenience store, when he got out and walked into the store, Marco wanted to go after him immediately but Eric stopped him. 

“What the hell are you doing Eric!? This is our chance so let’s go after him.” Marco argued. 

“We obviously can’t kill him in there, we’ve got to figure out a way to get him out of there and into this car.” 

“What?” Marco frowned. “I thought the plan wasn’t to kill him, but take him somewhere and deal with him.” 

“Well Marco, the plan has changed, that bastard has caused us so much trouble and he doesn’t deserve to live, we’re going to get him out of there, take him somewhere quiet, kill him and dump his goddamn body somewhere. It’s late already, and that’s also in our favor.” 

“Getting him out of there shouldn’t be an issue, we’ve got this.” He raised his gun and showed it to Eric. “We can threaten him with this and the rest will be a piece of cake.” 

A devilish smirk appeared on Eric’s lips, he was feeling so good about this and just can’t wait to get this whole thing done and over with. 

“Come on then, let’s go.” 

Marco excitedly cocked his gun and hid it at the back of his trouser, Eric also did the same thing. Both men got out of the car, put on their black cap and hurriedly walked into the convenience store. 

Unknown to them, the officer and Mike’s bodyguard were watching their every move from the car, waiting for the perfect moment to strike.
