Chapter 119 The High–and–Mighty Brian Steele Washing Ms. Quall’s Feet 

Seeing the hesitation on Curtis‘ face, Sonya immediately grew displeased. “Are you saying you don’t want to make our relationship public? If that’s the case, then why didn’t you reject me that night? If you had, I never would’ve been with you!” 

With that, Sonya pushed Curtis away angrily, acting as if she were about to leave. 

Curtis hurriedly caught her arm. “Sonya, it’s not that I don’t want to be with you. It’s just that I recently got divorced. If we announce our relationship right now, it might damage your reputation. Why don’t we wait a while until the time is right and then make it public?” 

The displeasure slowly faded from Sonya’s face. “Fine, we’ll do it your way. We’ll wait for the right 

moment.” 

She lowered her head, masking the calculative look in her eyes. 

Of course, she knew that his so–called concern for her reputation was just an excuse. What he truly cared about was his company and his own image. 

And since his reputation meant so much to him, she would make sure to find the “right time” to leave him with no choice but to make their relationship public. 

A few days later, Chloe followed Brian into the Steele Group’s branch office in Yarfdale. 

Plenty of employees there recognized Chloe. After all, she’d once shadowed Brian as his bodyguard and been responsible for his safety. 

And after Chloe had been shot in the underground parking lot, Brian had gone so far as to replace the entire security team. 

On top of that, the Steele family in Corvessia had even undergone a complete shake–up. Even people in Yarfdale had heard whispers about the upheaval in the family. 

As a result, in recent days, everyone at Yarfdale, especially the higher–ups and those related to the Steele 

family, had been walking on eggshells. They were terrified of getting caught in the storm. 

Fortunately, Brian had hardly shown his face at the company for the past days, allowing everyone to breathe just a little easier. 

But today, with both Brian and Chloe showing up, a strange sense of unease rippled through the office. 

This was especially for Avery Kornfeld, who’d been filling in as secretary after William was injured. When she walked into Brian’s office, she froze. 

Brian was crouched in front of Chloe with one hand supporting her right foot and his head lowered as he studied it intently.

And yet here he was, kneeling before a woman as if he were submitting to her feet. 

For a split second, Avery thought Brian might lower his head and kiss Chloe’s foot. 

“Ah, Ms. Kornfeld!” Chloe turned her head toward Avery, looking a little embarrassed. “I spilled tea on my 

shoe just now, so…” 

Avery quickly hid her shock and gave a sympathetic smile to say she understood. 

Chloe tried to pull her foot back, but Brian’s fingers held it firmly in place. 

“I’m fine,” Chloe said to him. 

“The top of your foot is still red,” he said. Then, without another word, he lifted Chloe in his arms. 

His actions left both Chloe and Avery stunned. 

There was a private washroom inside Brian’s office. Avery watched as Brian carried Chloe over to the sink, set her on the counter, then turned on the faucet and rinsed the top of her right foot with cold water. 

Meanwhile, several higher–ups who’d followed behind Avery grew puzzled when she didn’t return right away after going in. They finally pushed open the half–closed office door. “Ms. Kornfeld, is Mr. Steele not 

inside?” 

“He is, but…” Avery trailed off. 

The higher–ups all jolted with unease. Their minds flashed back to the incident in the underground parking 

lot. Could something have happened to Brian again? 

Immediately, one of the higher–ups took the lead, pushing the door open and striding inside. The others 

followed close behind. 

But when they saw what was happening before their eyes, every single one of them froze. 

The high–and–mighty Brian Steele was washing Chloe’s foot. 

With so many people suddenly crowding into the office, Chloe felt her head pound. “Alright, I’m really fine 

now!” 

If this continued, would even more people show up just to watch? 

Brian glanced at the top of Chloe’s right foot. The redness had indeed faded thanks to the cold water. 

Finally, he stopped and carefully dried her foot with a cloth before thoughtfully helping her slip on a pair of 

spare shoes he kept in the office. 

Shock was no longer enough to describe how Avery and the higher–ups felt. 

“You all probably have business matters to discuss. I’ll step outside first,” Chloe said, trying to leave. But Brian suddenly pulled her back.

“It’s fine. Stay here,” Brian said. 

“I’d rather wait outside for a bit,” Chloe insisted. 

Besides, the way everyone was staring at her made her feel awkward. Sitting in the lounge outside would 

feel much more comfortable. 

Brian hesitated, then finally said, “Alright.” 

But right after, he picked up two boxes of medicine from his desk, checked his watch, and said, “In seven minutes, remember to take these. The two medicines should be taken five minutes apart. The water 

should be about 100 degrees…” 

Avery and the higher–ups watched in disbelief. The same man who was usually so concise and sharp during meetings was now fussing like a nagging parent. 

“I know,” Chloe said, taking the medicine from Brian before walking out of the office with Avery. 

Avery couldn’t help saying, “Ms. Quall, Mr. Steele treats you so well.” 

Compared to Willow, the way Brian treated Chloe was like night and day. 

Chloe smiled. She knew very well how good Brian was to her. She always felt cherished when she was 

with him. 

And slowly, without realizing it, his place in her heart had grown. She wanted to kiss him and protect him even when it wasn’t her mission. She dreamed that one day, she could heal the scars of his childhood. 

She realized she really might like him. 

“Ms. Quall, it’s about time for your medicine,” Avery reminded her, handing her a glass of warm water at 

exactly 100 degrees Fahrenheit. 

“Thank you.” Chloe took it and pulled out the pills. 

The medicine was really just for strengthening her immunity and replenishing her blood. Chloe didn’t even 

feel like it was necessary. 

However, Brian insisted that she was “too frail” and needed more care and nourishment. 

Just after she’d swallowed the pills, her phone rang. After listening to what the person on the other line 

said for a moment, Chloe quickly turned to Avery. 

“Tell Brian that I need to run over to Quall Group for something.” Without another word, Chloe hurried out. 

When she arrived at Quall Group, she immediately ran into Willow, who frowned the second she saw 

Chloe. 

“What are you doing here?” 

“It’s none of your business,” Chloe replied, moving to walk past her.

But a voice sounded behind her. “Willow, I get that you called me here, but why did you also call Chloe?” 

Chloe turned and saw Sonya and Curtis walking in. 

“I didn’t call her. She came on her own!” Willow said quickly, rushing toward Sonya. “Thank goodness you’re here. The helicopter’s already in place. We’re just waiting for you to help with the rescue!” 

Some of Quall Group’s employees had gotten into an accident while working on the island development project and required emergency rescue. Although the police had been contacted, dispatching their helicopter would take several more hours. 

Quall Group had its own helicopter. That was why Willow had thought of calling Sonya for help. 

After all, the accident had happened because she’d insisted on rushing the schedule, which had led to oversights during the safety inspections. 

“You want me on a rescue mission?” Sonya said with a sly look. “Then, have Chloe apologize to me and 

Curtis first.”
