Chapter 22 

Bianca who has been watching the whole scene was surprised at who Mrs Bridget came to see, she recognize Alicia because 

Mrs Bridget had once shown her Alicia’s picture, and even though she had a bit difficulty recognizing her due to the changes in her, she eventually did in the end. 

She hurriedly put her head down when Mrs Bridget’s car drove past her and she was glad Mrs Bridget didn’t take notice of 

her car, she must have been too pissed to even notice and Bridget saw that as a good thing. 

After Mrs Bridget’s car left, Bianca raised her head up and sat properly, she couldn’t tell what made Mrs Bridget meet with her 

son’s ex–wife, but from the look of things, it should be beneficial to her and she was also thinking of meeting up with Alicia too, just to mark her territory and make it clear to her that she won’t let her come between her and Adams, she knows her face well now, all she needs to do next is find out where she lives and that she’s going to do. 

She stayed in her car thinking of how to go about the whole thing and when she finally did, she smiled sheepishly, satisfied with her final conclusion, she turned on her car and drove off. 

It’s late at night already, despite how Alicia’s meeting with Mrs Bridget ruined her mood, she didn’t let that ruin the time she had planned to spend with her daughter, she and Diane still went on that outing and she made sure they had lots of fun, she didn’t do anything to show her daughter that she 

her anger, she had fun and made sure to enjoy he pissed, in fact, seeing her daughter so happy made her forget all about 

day. 

When they returned, Diane was so tired that 

She couldn’t even stay awake for a single second, she managed to give her a bath and put her to sleep, currently she’s sitting in the living room having a cup of hot cocoa and waiting for May since she isn’t back from the interview yet and she couldn’t even understand why because she didn’t think any interview will take this long. She was still in thoughts when the door bell rang, she dropped her cup on the table in front of her and hurriedly went to answer the door, she didn’t even bother to check who it was because she already knew it was May, when she opened the door she pulled May into a tight hug. 

“Wow, didn’t know you missed me this much.” May chuckled. 

Alicia rolled her eyes at her then she pulled away from the hug “You took so long to get back, what kind of interview closes this late at night, it’s past eight already May and I do hope all this lateness paid off, I hope you got the job.” She was nervous and excited at the same time. 

When she said the last statement, May’s countenance fell and that instantly worried Alicia as she thought they didn’t offer her the job, she was even about to lash out at the company when May’s face brightened up and she screamed in excitement. 

“I got the jobu 

“You scared me” Alicia slapped her arm, then she hugged her tightly once more. “Congratulations May, I’m so happy for you, you truly deserve this, you deserve this.” She then let go of May. “Why don’t you go take a sit first and I’ll get you something to drink, you must be tired ”

“Oh you have no idea, thank you Alicia.” May replied before going to take a sit on one of the couch in the living room, moment she sat down, she kept her bag beside her then she popped open her suit button and she sighed deeply, she hates putting on these suits but it’s needed for the job so she has no choice but to wear them. 

Soon Alicia arrived with a tray which contains lots of cookies since May loves them a lot and a glass of fruit juice, she set down the tray on the table in front of May and when May saw the cookies, her eyes lit up and she instantly began devouring 

them 

Alicia couldn’t help but chuckle as she watched May eat the cookies, to get to May’s heart, just bribe her with cookies and she’s all yours 

“Slow down May, no one is stealing them.” 

“Aside the fact that I’m obsessed with these, you have no idea how hungry I am, I’m literally starving ” May replied with a

Alicia furrowed her brow. “Didn’t you get something to eat or you were too excited to eat?” 

“I did but it wasn’t much May relaxed into the sit. “But let’s leave that aside for now, why don’t you tell me how your day went, how was the outing with Diane?” She asked. 

“It was good but something else also happened today.” 

May frowned “What happened? Tell me about it.” She urged. 

Alicia was silent for sometime but she finally told May about her encounter with Mrs Bridget. 

“What?” May half yelled in disbelief. “Are you being serious? Adams mother came to see you and for such a reason as that?” She scoffed in disbelief. “I seriously can’t believe the guts of that woman, but then, I love the way you handled the situation, I’m glad you didn’t give her the opportunity to mess with you and treat you like before, at least she’s going to see the change now and know that you’re not the same old Alicia that she loves to insult and you would keep quiet about it, you did good Alicia, you really did.” May said proudly. 

“Of course I wasn’t going to keep quiet, seeing her only brought back those awful memories, if it hadn’t been for Diane I would have said more things to her, but I didn’t want Diane to see all that.” She sighed. 

“It’s alright Alicia, I’m glad you still told her off, rather than sticking her nose in where isn’t needed, she should focus on her family instead and warn her son to stay away since he’s the one pestering your life and if he wants to get married to a thousand ladies then it’s none of your business.” 

“I really don’t care about that May, I don’t care if he gets married to anyone else I just want them away from my life, I didn’t come back for all this and I won’t take it if anyone of them tries to cross their boundaries.” 

“Good, now don’t let that ruin your mood any longer, just know that you did good today.” 

Alicia nodded, then she smiled. “Oh yes I almost forgot, you didn’t tell me the companies you applied for.” 

“Oh… May bit her bottom lip nervously. 

“What’s wrong? You’re acting weird now.” Alicia pointed out. 

“Look Alicia, I didn’t mean to keep this from you and I didn’t think I was going to get the job there so I didn’t tell you. You know I applied for a job at three different companies since there was a vacancy in the marketing department, two accepted me and one didn’t, but then I went with the one that pays more, I really had no idea that this was going to happen so please don’t get mad at me, I didn’t think I would get the job there since their requirements was really high and-” 

“Slow down now May, I don’t understand what you’re saying, why would I get mad?” 

“Actually, the two companies that accepted me…” May trailed, she didn’t know how Alicia was going to take this and she could only hope she doesn’t get mad at her for keeping this information from her. 

“Go on May, what are their names?” Alicia urged. 

“One is Babel and the other is Carter Legacy Enterprises.” 

At first Alicia said nothing, all she did was stare at May for what felt like ages and her silence wasn’t helping the situation at all, then suddenly she yelled 

“What!”
