Chapter 5 

I had no idea that when Derek pulled Nora close, he caught me looking away. 

That evening when I got home, he was standing by the window lost in thought. 

My brain was stuffed with information and I felt exhausted as hell. 

I ignored him and headed straight for the bathroom. 

But Derek squeezed in after me. 

He was only wearing underwear but still managed to look intimidating as fuck.

Seeing those 99+ notifications in my backend made me ridiculously happy. Turns out I actually could do something right. 

I was just sharing the good news with Mia when Derek came home with someone trailing behind him. 

He’d brought Nora to our house. 

Derek looked completely calm as he told me, “Nora accidentally spilled soup on herself at dinner. Her place is far away, so she was wondering if you could lend her some clothes.” 

Refusing would definitely make me look petty, so I went to get her one of the casual outfits Derek had bought me when we got married. 

Don’t know if it was coincidence or what, but Nora looked absolutely stunning in it. 

She smiled softly. “I never expected Isadora and I would have such similar taste. I loved this brand before I went abroad.” 

That was laying it on pretty thick. I said honestly, “Derek bought this. I’ve never worn it once.”

Nora’s smile became more genuine, and even her glances at me lost their edge.
