Hayden thus went up the stairs with a grim expression.
Olivia curled her lips and chastised, “Nicole was never the real Mrs. Spencer, and technically, you and Matt are a family. So what if he calls you ‘Mom‘ without her permission? There’s nothing wrong with that!”
Gloria’s eyes glinted with glee when she heard this, but she pretended to be humble. “It’s fine. After all, Nicole’s the one who gave birth to Matt. It’s normal for her to feel hurt and upset.”
“What right does she have to be upset? So what if she gave birth to Matt? It’s his choice to call you whatever he wants. She has no say in it!”
As soon as the words left her mouth, Hayden walked out of the room with an expression darker than coal.
“She’s not there.”
“What do you mean?” Olivia was perplexed by his statement.
He clenched his fists, and his voice trembled as he explained, “Nicole’s not in her room. I’m not sure when she left.”
A wave of panic washed over him. He immediately searched the bathroom, the backyard, and every possible place in the house, but there was still no sign of Nicole.
Then, his gaze landed on the gingko tree in the backyard. The soil beneath it looked freshly dug, as if someone had been digging there not long ago.
His brow furrowed, and he asked, “Matt, isn’t this where you and Nicole buried the time capsule?”
Matthew walked over to have a closer look and was stunned. “Where’s the time capsule? Did Mommy dig it up?”
When Hayden heard this, he grew anxious and pulled out his phone while walking away.
“Where are you going?” Gloria asked.
“No one is allowed to leave this house until I find her. I want all of you to apologize to Nicole!” His voice was sharp, and he left without another word.
As he disappeared into the distance, Gloria exchanged a glance with Olivia.
“Do we really have to sit here and wait? How is he supposed to find her in the middle of the night?” Olivia grumbled,
“Great–aunt Olivia, Ms. Ashford, come and unwrap the gifts with me! Forget about Mommy. She probably ran away to make Dad chase after her.” Matt giggled and tugged Gloria’s hand while carrying a pile of gifts.
However, Gloria narrowed her eyes thoughtfully. She didn’t believe it was as simple as Matthew had put it.

Ever since that misunderstanding with the photo, things between Nicole and Hayden had been strained.
Gloria even heard that while Nicole was in the hospital, Hayden never visited her and stayed late at the
office every night.
It seemed that after tonight, Nicole had completely given up on Hayden.
Gloria believed that Nicole should’ve left a long time ago. After all, there could only ever be one lady of
this house, and that role was destined to be hers.
With a satisfied smirk, she took Matthew upstairs to play.
Meanwhile, Hayden sped toward the hospital.
He rushed into Nicole’s ward, but she wasn’t there. Hence, he went directly to Jeremiah.
At this moment, Jeremiah was looking through Nicole’s medical reports. When he saw Hayden walk in, he quickly hid them.
Jeremiah frowned. “What are you doing here?”
“Did Nicole return to the hospital?” Hayden asked.
