Hayden stared at the photo and was momentarily stunned.
In the picture, Gloria was seen clinking glasses with a man. The man across from her resembled him, but it clearly wasn’t.
He frowned and explained, “That’s not me, and this picture wasn’t taken last night. I didn’t go out with her.”
“Then, how do you explain the fact that the man across from her is wearing the same watch as you?”
Jeremiah couldn’t help but ask. He couldn’t believe someone could lie so shamelessly.
Hayden’s brows stayed knitted together as he fixed his gaze on Nicole. “If you don’t believe me, I can call
my colleagues at work. They all saw me working late last night.”
But Nicole wasn’t having any of that. Her tone was cold and harsh, tinged with doubt as she asked, “That
man is wearing the same watch you have, which Gloria gifted you. Tell me. How am I supposed to believe that man isn’t you?”
Hayden didn’t know what else to say. After forcing himself to calm down, he explained, “Many people
wear the same model. It’s an expensive watch, but it’s not a limited edition. It’s possible that the man
Gloria had dinner with owns the same watch.”
After hearing his careless explanation, her gaze clouded with disappointment. She never imagined that he
would still lie even with the evidence laid before him.
A helpless chuckle escaped her mouth. “Since you don’t want to admit it, I won’t force you. But from now
on, I won’t believe a single word you say, and I won’t attend the anniversary banquet either.”
“I can prove my innocence!” Hayden suddenly spoke up after hearing her words.
When Nicole saw the determination on his face, she let out a mocking sneer. “How are you going to do
that?”
He clenched his fist tightly and began to think.
She stared at him blankly for a few seconds and said, “Don’t bother racking your brain. Call Gloria over right now. Let’s ask her together and see what she has to say.”
Nicole had no interest in dragging this out with him any longer because the more he explained, the more it felt like he was giving excuses.
She only wanted to end this matter quickly and expose Hayden and Gloria’s pretense.
Ever since Caleb caused her to miss the opportunity to leave, she had been suffocating with anger. Now, she was about to unleash it all.
Hayden stood in place and hesitated. “But Gloria called me yesterday and said she was undergoing
treatment. She can’t get emotional or have her rest disturbed-”

At that, Jeremiah lost his patience and cut him off. “Shouldn’t clearing things up and fixing your marriage with Nicole take priority over Gloria’s stress? You should know what’s more important.”
Hayden remained quiet for a long moment and finally nodded under Nicole’s unwavering gaze. “Fine. I’ll go and get her right now.”
With that, he turned and walked out of the hospital room.
As soon as the door closed behind him, Nicole felt utterly drained. She slowly relaxed her tensed body.
Jeremiah didn’t know how to comfort her. His expression became complex as he let out a long sigh. “I never expected things to turn out like this. But are you ready to break from them completely?”
Upon hearing this, a smile plastered across her face.
Nicole was ready. In her mind, it was better than waiting to be humiliated at the anniversary banquet.
