Chapter 96
A loving smile appeared on Samuel’s face after he regained his senses. “Go ahead and ask,” he said.
“Why did Alexander go abroad this time? Do you know? He… isn’t in any danger, is he?” Elena asked.
Alexander said he would return safely, but Elena couldn’t shake the uneasy feeling gnawing at her, especially since he hadn’t contacted her after that last call.
Samuel shook his head. “I’m not too clear about the details either.”
Seeing Elena worried sick, he smiled and said, “Looks like you’re quite concerned about your fiance, Lena.
Elena’s ears burned a little as she said, “Well… he helped me a lot when we were in Slushire. I hope he’ll be fine, no matter what.”

“He’s a good person. I wouldn’t have chosen him as your fiance otherwise. Don’t worry. He’ll be fine.”
Samuel said nothing further after that. After all, Elena was all grown up. It was enough to just tease her a
little.
Elena received an email after she returned to her bedroom.
It was from the private investigator she had hired. The email read, “I’ve gotten to the bottom of what
happened to Nadine while she was abroad.
“Not long after Nadine went abroad, she met a man named Matthew Johnson. He was from the same
country as her, but he migrated abroad with his parents very early on. Matthew pursued Nadine
passionately not long after they met, and they got married very soon.
“He went along with everything Nadine said after they got married. There was absolutely no domestic
violence whatsoever. But Nadine still asked for a divorce not long after. Then, Justin flew abroad to visit
her and lived with her for some time.”
Elena recalled that Justin had indeed lived abroad for a while back then. He had said that his friend
needed his help to take care of some matters at that time.
Elena had trusted Justin completely back then, so she hadn’t questioned him at all.
It turned out that his so-called friend was Nadine.
It was quite funny. Justin would never have thought that he had also been fooled by Nadine when he had been lying to Elena,

“Nadi, did you hear that? You’re pregnant! We’re having a child!” Justin exclaimed in excitement.
Nadine’s lips curled into a forced smile. “Yes, you’re right.”
“What’s the matter?” Justin noticed that something was off and asked, “Are you not happy?”
Nadine quickly said, “No, I was just too surprised. After all, my ex-husband abused me very badly, and my
body was ruined. The doctor said it would be very tough for me to get pregnant again. I didn’t think I’d still end up pregnant.”
“It’s probably meant to be.” Justin kissed her hand. “The universe wants us to have a child of our own.”
Nadine’s eyes twinkled. He was right. This was meant to be. The universe was giving her a chance.
She wasn’t sure who the father of the child was, but so what? At this moment, Justin didn’t suspect her at
all. That meant that this child could be the best help she had ever asked for.
“You’re right. This is great, Jus.” Nadine stroked her belly gently. “We’ll definitely live happily ever after as a family of three.”
“Yes, Nadi. Get some rest. I’ll go check with the doctor to see what else we need to be extra careful of,”
said Justin before he got up and left the room.
