Chapter 48
The moment Justin saw the person who had stepped out of the car, his eyes widened considerably.
It was Alexander.
At that moment, it was drizzling lightly. Alexander got out of the car with an umbrella in hand. Opening it, he walked right over to Elena and held it above her head.
“Sorry, I’m late. Traffic was a little heavy.”
Elena was very surprised. “You’re the one picking me up?”
Why would Jared have sent Alexander to pick her up? Wasn’t it too much to trouble him over such a trivial
matter?
But Alexander didn’t seem unhappy about the inconvenience in the slightest. He just said to Elena, “Get in
the car.”
“Lena!” Justin shouted from the car, glaring at the two of them. “Aren’t you going to get in?”
There was naturally no way Elena would get into Justin’s car. So, she smiled at Alexander. “Sorry for the trouble, Mr. Golden.”
It was just a polite smile from Elena, but in Justin’s eyes, it appeared unbearably alluring and stung him.
How could Elena smile at another man like that? Even if she just wanted to anger him, she shouldn’t do it
like this.
Alexander held the umbrella and led Elena toward his car.
Justin wanted to jump out and drag Elena away, but he felt that it would be too undignified. So, he remained in his seat and shouted at Elena, “Lena, for the last time, come here!”
But Elena didn’t even spare him a glance. The moment Alexander opened the door, she got in his car
without any hesitation.
Justin was furious. How dare Elena get in another man’s car right in front of him? Very well. This time, he
swore that he wouldn’t forgive her so easily.
Meanwhile, Alexander closed the umbrella and shot a warning glance at Justin before getting in the car.
Justin found it utterly laughable. He was Elena’s husband. Even if their marriage was fake for now, it
would become real sooner or later. What gave Alexander the right to look at him like that?
Alexander’s car had already driven off, but Justin was still frozen in his seat, ashen-faced and completely
silent.
Rowan glanced at Justin through the rearview mirror but didn’t dare to utter a single word. He didn’t even dare to start the engine.
Suddenly, Justin’s phone rang, jolting him out of his thoughts. He answered when he saw the call was from Josephine. “Mom.”
Josephine asked, “Well? Did you pick Elena up?”
Justin said coldly, “Forget about her. We’ve spoiled her so much that she thinks she can do whatever she wants. I shouldn’t have come to pick her up today. Maybe…”
Maybe she would have come back on her own if he had just waited a few days. And now, she had gained the upper hand again.
Josephine sighed. “Elena was never like this in the past. What’s going on right now? Why don’t we send Nadine abroad once she’s out of holding?”
Justin immediately objected. “No! Mom, could you really bear to let her go?”
Josephine answered, “Of course not, but you two…”
Justin said, “Besides, her abusive ex-husband is still overseas. Wouldn’t you just be making her trauma worse if you sent her abroad again?”
Josephine’s tone suddenly changed. “What did you just say? An abusive ex-husband?”
