Chapter 36
The next afternoon, a few colleagues came to the hospital to visit Elena.
These colleagues had all worked with Elena on the project and knew exactly how much effort she had poured into it, so they genuinely respected her.
On top of that, since Nadine had nearly taken over the project before, they hadn’t dared to show their support openly, leaving them with a lingering sense of guilt. This time, when they came to see Elena, each of them was carrying a handful of gifts.
“Ms. Miller, rest well. Don’t worry about the project-we can handle everything.”
“If there’s anything we really can’t manage, we’ll contact you.”.
“You’ve worked so hard lately. You really need a proper rest.”
“Thank you all for coming to see me,” Elena said with a smile.
“Oh, it’s really nothing-we’re just doing what anyone would. But… How did you suddenly get a concussion and end up in the hospital? Could it really be…”
The colleagues exchanged glances, and one of them asked cautiously, “Could it really be that Ms. Riggs pushed you on purpose and caused this?”
“How did you know?” Elena asked in surprise.
Although she hadn’t intended to hide it at work, she hadn’t told anyone in the company yet.
“It’s all over the office now! They’re saying Ms. Riggs was jealous of you and deliberately hurt you, landing you in the hospital. Who started the rumor first? No one knows,” someone explained.
“So, it really was Ms. Riggs? That’s over the line…”
“She didn’t come to the office today.”
“No wonder. When we asked Mr. Riggs if we could take the day off to visit you in the hospital, he agreed immediately. He’s never been so easygoing before.”
“Looks like Mr. Riggs feels guilty toward you as well.”
Elena sneered. She didn’t think Justin would feel guilty.
Most likely, he would just think she was making a scene far too much.
Her colleagues stayed to chat with Elena for a while, filling the room with lively conversation. Not wanting
to disturb her rest, they eventually said their goodbyes and left.
The nurse came in to organize the gifts they had brought.
Just then, Elena’s phone vibrated a few times. She picked it up and saw several messages from
Josephine.
“Elena, how are you feeling? Still dizzy?
“It’s all Nadine’s fault. I’ve spoiled her too much. Don’t take it seriously.
“I’ll bring her to the hospital tonight to apologize to you.”
Elena immediately blocked Josephine’s number. She then found photos of Josephine and Nadine and
showed them to the nurse.
“If these two come tonight, don’t let them in,” she instructed.
“Understood,” the nurse replied promptly.
After instructing the nurse, Elena scrolled through her Instagram and suddenly noticed a video link shared by one of her friends.
The caption read, “Truly our Dance Queen Nadine! Still stunning when she dances!”
Elena’s gaze darkened. She had met this friend previously through a large dance club, so the “Dance
Queen Nadine” they mentioned could only refer to…
Elena clicked on the video link.
Sure enough, the star of the video was Nadine.
Watching her spin and move on screen, Elena couldn’t help but grip her phone tightly.
Nadine was performing “The Night Without Dawn.”
Years ago, Elena had risen to fame at an international dance competition, winning first place with her performance of “The Night Without Dawn.”
Ever since, the dance world had hailed her as the “Dance Queen.”
Nadine had also earned praise in the dance world, but at the time, everyone said she still fell short
compared to Elena.
And now…
