opportunity for the two of them.

Even though he always scolded Ellsworth and said he wouldn’t

put in a good word for him.

But after all, they were good buddies who grew up together.

How could he really just stand by and do nothing?

With both hands in his pockets, Ellsworth listened to

Johnathan’s arrangement and replied in a calm voice, “Okay.”

After speaking, he looked over at Harriet, who was standing

with Kathie, and said softly, “I’ll go get the car.”

Knowing that Johnathan had arranged this on purpose, but not wanting to make things awkward for everyone over such a small matter, Harriet nodded, “Okay.”

Actually, no matter how enthusiastic Johnathan and Darrick

were, it was useless.

The rift between her and Ellsworth had not formed overnight;

even they themselves couldn’t resolve it.

How could outsiders possibly fix it?

Off to the side, when Kathie heard Ellsworth say he was going

to get the car, she made a face in mock disgust and imitated

him, “I’ll go get the car.”

Kathie’s sarcastic tone made Harriet unable to hold back a

laugh.

Soon after, Ellsworth drove the car over. After Kathie helped

Harriet into the car and put her crutch in the back seat-

She didn’t forget to remind Harriet, “Hara, if anything comes up

or you need help, call me and I’ll come over to keep you

company…

Before she could finish saying she’d come stay with her,

Johnathan suddenly put his arm around her and pulled her over,

then waved at Harriet and Ellsworth, saying, “Ells, Hara,

goodbye, let’s meet up again next time.”

“Okay.”

“Goodbye, Mr. Burton.”

After saying goodbye to Johnathan, Ellsworth slowly started the

car and drove away.

Kathie, however, immediately turned to Johnathan and said,

“Johnathan, what are you doing? I wasn’t finished talking to

Hara.”

Johnathan replied, “Hara has a husband. If she needs anything

or has any trouble, her husband will take care of it. Why do you

need to go stay with her? Why are you making things more

dramatic for yourself?”

Hearing Johnathan’s words, Kathie looked at him with utter

disdain.

With her arms crossed, Kathie looked at Johnathan and said,

“So you’re not even pretending to be a good person anymore?

You want to help my brother set Hara up again, right?

Johnathan, I’m telling you, what you guys are doing is just

wrong, really wrong.”

Johnathan laughed, “Kathie, that’s your own brother. Can’t you

wish him well for once? How do you know he’s trying to set

Hara up this time and not actually being good to her?”

Kathie retorted confidently, “It’s exactly because he’s my

brother that I know what he’s like, and that’s why I have to save

Hara.”

Since Kathie insisted on making trouble, Johnathan didn’t argue with her anymore. Instead, he coaxed her, “Alright, alright, we’ll save Hara together. But, my lady, let me take you home first.”

Johnathan’s good temper made Kathie suddenly shrug his hand off her shoulder. “You’re siding with my brother, helping him set

up Hara. Don’t touch me.”

Shrugging off Johnathan’s hand, Kathie strode off, leaving

Johnathan behind.

Seeing this, Johnathan quickly caught up in a few steps, “When

did I ever set Hara up? Don’t accuse me wrongly.”

He barely had time to feel sympathy or pity for her, let alone set

her up.

Kathie said, “You did! This whole dinner tonight was on

purpose.”

Johnathan took the shoulder bag from her and carried it for her,

saying, “Didn’t you notice your brother can’t let go of Hara? He’s trying to keep her, he wants to be good to her.”

Hearing Johnathan say this, Kathie just snorted at him and

didn’t say anything more.

Seeing this, Johnathan put his arm around her shoulder again

and coaxed her, “Alright, don’t be mad. Let me take you home.”

With Johnathan’s repeated good temper, Kathie couldn’t be

bothered to argue with him anymore.

It’s just that, while Johnathan had a good temper, Darrick’s was

even better, and so was Deandre’s. All of them were gentle and

patient with women.

Ellsworth was so close to them, so why hadn’t he learned a bit?

Why didn’t he know how to coax Hara, or treat her better?

Meanwhile, inside the black Maybach.

Ellsworth gripped the steering wheel with both hands,

occasionally glancing at Harriet out of the corner of his eye,

only to see her turning her face away, silently looking out the

window.
