Chapter201

After all, everyone at Amberville knew Ellsworth was married,

and that he had a wife nicknamed the Ninja Turtle.

It wasn’t a good reputation, so there was no need to claim it

eagerly.

Harriet’s indifference didn’t anger Ellsworth. He smiled and

said, So you just wait for a chance to criticize me?”

Harriet glanced at him coolly, too lazy to explain.

Coming over to her, Ellsworth placed the snacks he brought on

the bedside table and asked, How did the dressing change go

today?”

Harriet looked at her book and said, It’s fine. The bruising has

faded a lot. After two more days of injections, I can be

discharged.”

At this point, she pulled a file from under her pillow and handed

it to him, saying, The confirmation letter Mr. Hurley and the others wantedI’ve checked and signed it. Please give it to Mr. Hurley for me.”

Chapter201

Ellsworth took the confirmation letter, and Harriet looked up at

him and asked, So, when do you think we can go handle the

paperwork?”

When Harriet brought up the paperwork, Ellsworth chuckled and

said, “Still thinking about that while you’re in the hospital?”

He added, Harriet, do you really think it’s that simple for us to

handle the paperwork? To transfer so many assets and shares

to you at once? You think the higherups won’t investigate?”

Don’t worry. Since things have come to this, I know what I’m

doing.”

After Ellsworth finished speaking, Harriet pressed her lips

together and looked at him without saying anything.

Seeing this, Ellsworth pulled out the chair beside her and sat

down, speaking slowly: I’ve quit my job and moved out of

Auburn Heights. Harriet, our relationship is pretty much back to

how it was before marriage. There’s no rush to get the

certificate in the next few days.”

Ellsworth didn’t say he wouldn’t divorce anymore, but instead said the higherups would investigate and told her to wait for

news. Harriet didn’t say much more.

Chapter201

Even though she knew some of his little schemes, she didn’t

expose him.

Butback to before marriage?

No, they could never go back.

***

At noon, Patsy brought lunch for the two of them.

After lunch, when Ellsworth walked Patsy downstairs, Patsy

said, “Hara’s leg isn’t convenient these days. Take good care of

her, do your best, and try to win her back.”

Ellsworth replied lazily, Mom, don’t worry about my business. I

have it under control.”

As he spoke, he closed the car door for her with a click and let

her head home first.

When he returned upstairs to the hospital room, Gracelyn had

come to see Harriet, and the two of them were sitting together

on the bed.

Gracelyn had recently undergone orthopedic correction surgery,

and her hospital room was not far from Harriet’s, so she came

Chapter201

to check in with Harriet every day.

With her arm around Gracelyn’s small shoulders, Harriet was

reading her a storybook she had brought.

On the hospital bed, the little one was so absorbed in the story

that she didn’t notice anyone come in. Harriet glanced at him

briefly, then continued reading.

Seeing this, Ellsworth didn’t disturb them. He picked up a book

from the coffee table and sat down on the sofa.

From time to time, his gaze drifted to Harriet, finding the scene

quite heartwarming.

If he hadn’t discovered Harriet’s diary back then, if they had just

lived a normal life, their child would be walking by now, calling

out Momand Dad,’ and squeezing between them to sleep.

Retracting his gaze and looking down at his book, Gracelyn

suddenly turned to Harriet and asked seriously, Hara, can you

come to my house and be my mom?”

Before Harriet could react, Gracelyn added, I’ll let you play with all my toys, I’ll share half of my little bed with you, and I’ll ask my

dad to buy you lots of pretty clothes.”

Chapter201

And I’ll have him buy you a necklace. Hara, will you come to my

house and be my mom?”

Hearing this, Ellsworth immediately looked up.

Vicente had just come by in the morning, and now Gracelyn was

here. There were certainly plenty of people who liked and

admired her.

The little girl blinked her big eyes, her expression pure and

innocent. Harriet couldn’t help but laugh.

She said, Grace, being good friends like this is wonderful too.

Whenever you miss me, I can come see you. I don’t have to live

at your house.”

Harriet didn’t agree to go to her house, and Gracelyn looked a little sad, lowering her head and saying softly, But Grace

doesn’t have a mom.”

At this, Gracelyn looked up at Harriet and asked, Hara, do you have a baby in your tummy? My dad said you and Ells will have a baby in the future. He said if I ask you to come home with me, it might scare you, but I still want you to come to my house.”
