Chapter 84 The Quickie Wife’s Windfall
Julian came back, wearing a baggy hospital gown. The loose fabric did nothing to tone down his masculine presence. If anything, the collar slipped just enough to reveal the sharp collarbone and firm
chest.
It even took the edge off his sharp, cold look, making him look more wildly attractive.
Rosalie couldn’t take her eyes off Julian as she nervously asked, “How’s your back?”
Julian walked over and said flatly, “They had it patched up again. It’s no big deal.”
Looking at the mess on the floor, he frowned and hit the call button to get the staff to take care of it.
Without missing a beat, he picked up the steaming glass of water by the bed and replaced it with water at room temperature. “Your throat is injured, so you shouldn’t drink anything too hot now.”
Looking over at the fruit basket, he reminded, “Stay away from mangoes, strawberries, and pineapples.
They’re common triggers for allergies.”
Rosalie’s worry melted away. “Just throw it away… Hold on. Maybe you could give it to your buddies.”
Julian didn’t ask any questions and called for Crispin like before. “Take this fruit back and pass it around to everyone on the team.”
Crispin scratched his head. “Are you sure about this, Captain Yarwood? The fruit looks way too fancy to just be from the supermarket.”
Julian shot Crispin a look. “Just take it. Stop arguing.”
Rosalie’s eyes were on Julian’s composed features when it just clicked for her. All the men in her life- whether it was William or Lucian-had the same suffocating need to control everything.
But Julian was different. He had this calm, steady presence as he just took care of everything without making a fuss.
Some woman really did the work to make him so thoughtful and reliable. Rosalie just got lucky and
reaped the benefits of the whirlwind marriage.
The next morning, Rosalie finished her IV early and went straight for discharge. She couldn’t bear another moment around Lucian and Camelia.
The room was packed with stuff when Ursula’s call came through. “Did you get discharged, Rosa? Should I come over and help you pack?”
Rosalie looked over her shoulder and was struck speechless.
Inside the room, the young men in Julian’s team were bickering heatedly about who got to carry her

things. “Let me. I’ve got plenty of strength.”
Another person retorted, “Give me a break. You were too weak to carry the water in the training.”
The next person piped up, “Everybody, move. I’ve got this. My max bench is 265 pounds.”

Rosalie couldn’t believe what she was seeing and sighed helplessly. “Don’t worry. Someone is already
helping.”
The moment she ended the call, Julian was already in front of her. He leaned down like it was second
nature, ready to pick her up.
She hurriedly pressed her hand against his chest to stop him. “Wait.”
She motioned at his back, her voice gentle. “A wheelchair will do. If that injury on your back tears again, I’ll have a hard time explaining it to your friends.”
He looked at her for a few seconds. Without saying anything, he turned and headed to the nurse’s station to get a wheelchair.
Back in her apartment, Rosalie collapsed onto the couch when Lucian called. She saw his name on the screen and ignored it.
She seriously considered blocking his number for good this time. But then she remembered how he had cornered her at the hospital entrance last time, stubbornly taken her phone, and unblocked himself.
She didn’t want to go through that again. Ignoring the call was the best option.
Later that evening, she called Richard. “Any luck with the office hunt?”
Stellar Group was supposed to jump right in and manage the situation the second Vertex Tech went up in
flames.
But three days had passed without a single word from them. They were basically letting Vertex Tech sink
or swim on its own.
Rosalie was willing to fund it out of her own pocket if that was what it took to get Vertex Tech back on its
feet.
Richard replied, “I asked around, Ms. Ashford. There is a vacant office building right next to Harborview Fire Department. The location and size are perfect, but we have a problem.”
Rosalie furrowed her brows. “What’s wrong?”
