Chapter 67 We Have Broken Up

Nydia was startled by Lucian’s sudden aggression. Howard immediately stepped in, shielding Nydia and shoving Lucian back.

He snapped, “Lucian, what do you think you’re doing? I know you’re charming, but you can’t just fall for every woman you meet! This is my wife!”

Camelia quickly stepped forward, apologizing to them, “Mr. and Mrs. Skeldon, I’m really sorry. Mr.

Fenwick only reacted this way because of me.

“I really wanted Starlit Devotion, and since Rosalie and I are good friends, he might have assumed she

was winning it for me.”

Howard scoffed. “Good friends? I heard Mr. Fenwick dumped Ms. Ashford for you. Never thought he’d go

for your type.”

His tone dripped with contempt. “Too bad for you. Ms. Ashford is clever, and there’s no way she would

associate with traitorous people like you. That’s why she wisely chose to partner with my company and

presented the necklace to my wife.”

Linking her arm through Howard’s, Nydia added coldly, “So, you’re the other woman who stole someone

else’s fiance, and this man here is the one who betrayed Ms. Ashford. Quite the perfect match, isn’t it?”

Lucian’s face darkened instantly, his presence intimidating. Without a word, he grabbed Camelia’s wrist

and turned to leave.

“Lucian, why aren’t you defending yourself? We’re truly in love!” Camelia asked, confused. “Did Rosalie say something about us in front of them?”

Lucian paused, his eyes burning with a cold, dangerous fury.

“I recently won a few projects from Yarwood Group and Vista Furnishings. Naturally, they’re upset. I just didn’t expect Rosalie to actually team up with them to spite me-and even slander us behind our backs!”

A cruel smirk tugged at his lips. “It doesn’t matter. I’ll take over Vista Furnishings completely soon, and all

her efforts will be wasted.”

Meanwhile, Ursula drove Rosalie out to a high-end nursing home on the outskirts of the city. To avoid being idle at home, Ursula often volunteered there, and Rosalie joined whenever she had time.

After visiting the elders in the front wing, Rosalie carried some supplements and walked into a secluded courtyard deeper within the nursing home, called Apricot Garden.

Just as she stepped through the gate, she spotted a lively elderly woman wearing reading glasses, leisurely trimming the flowers in the small garden.

Hearing the footsteps, Dawn Ortega looked up, and the moment she saw Rosalie, her wrinkled face

instantly lit up with a warm smile. “Rosalie, you’re visiting me again?”

Rosalie hurried over, supporting her arm. “Ms. Ortega, the sun is so strong. Why are you still outside?

Come inside and rest.”

Seeing Dawn’s familiar, warm smile, Rosalie felt a pang of bittersweet emotion. In her previous life, after marriage, she had visited Dawn less and less.

Once, she had accompanied Lucian on a business trip abroad and hadn’t returned for over six months. When she finally came back, the place was empty, and the staff told her that Dawn had already been brought home by her family.

Now, with this second chance at life, it felt wonderful to be able to see her again.

“You’re the only one who really cares about me, Rosalie,” Dawn said with a warm laugh, patting her hand as she let Rosalie help her into the room.

As soon as they settled into the wicker chair, Dawn mischievously winked. “By the way, didn’t you say you’d bring me some wedding favors this time? Where’s the chocolate? I’ve been looking forward to a bite

of that sweetness!”

Rosalie paused for a moment, then looked up calmly. “Ms. Ortega, there’s no chocolate this time. Lucian and I… We’ve already broken up.”

The smile on Dawn’s face faded slightly as she studied Rosalie. There was no surprise in her eyes-only a calm, knowing understanding of life.

She sighed gently and said, “Perhaps it’s for the best.

“Fate is like holding water in your hands-the tighter you try to grip it, the faster it slips through your

fingers. Sometimes, you have to open your palms to see clearly what remains.”

Rosalie felt a gentle stir in her heart, as if something had lightly tapped her from within.
