Chapter 65 Win It For You

Nydia tugged at Howard’s arm with a sulky face. “Darling, who’s that? Throwing money around like it’s nothing! I finally found a piece I actually want.”

Howard followed her gaze and caught sight of a sharply defined profile in the private box.

He immediately lowered his voice. “Nydia, keep it down. That’s Mr. Yarwood, my boss. He rarely bids at these auctions, and we can’t afford to compete with him.”

“But I really want it,” Nydia insisted, unwilling to back down.

Sitting only a few rows away, Lucian raised his bidder’s paddle with a cold expression. “Six million dollars.

Camelia’s eyes lit up as she turned to him with open admiration.

Rosalie overheard Nydia whispering that she longed for the necklace. Howard kept trying to soothe her, repeating that they couldn’t risk offending Charles.

Nydia pouted in defiance. “I’ll do it. I’m not short a few million dollars.”

Just as she was about to raise her bidder’s paddle, Rosalie calmly lifted her own. “Ten million dollars!”

Howard and Nydia both whipped around to look at her, startled and confused.

Rosalie tilted her head slightly and offered Nydia a gentle smile. “Mrs. Skeldon, jewelry is meant for women of grace. A piece like this belongs on the neck of someone as elegant as you. Only then does it

hold its true value.”

Nydia’s annoyance vanished, her face glowing with delight.

However, Lucian raised an eyebrow the moment Rosalie joined the bidding. Seeing this only confirmed what he already suspected-she still couldn’t bear to part with the necklace he had designed for her.

He was on the verge of pulling back when Camelia suddenly raised her voice, “11 million dollars.”

After calling out her bid, she immediately looped her arm through Lucian’s. “Lucian, I really love it. You’ll

win it for me, won’t you?”

As Lucian looked at her adoring and expectant face, his chest tightened. “Don’t worry. I’ll win it for you.”

The necklace was his creation. It had always been his say over who was worthy to wear it.

Rosalie had basked in its glory for years. Now, it was Camelia’s turn.

But just as that thought settled, the deep, lazy voice from the private box on the second floor rang out again, “20 million dollars.”

Lucian’s brows furrowed instantly. His gaze cut sharply toward the second floor. Whoever this man was,

he was clearly bidding against him on purpose.

It wasn’t worth it for a single necklace. The piece he had spent millions of dollars to create had already

sold for far more than its value.

But then Rosalie lifted her bidder’s paddle again. “21 million dollars!”

Lucian’s eyes widened as he stared at her profile. He couldn’t help but wonder if the necklace really

meant that much to her.

“Lucian…” Camelia’s voice trembled with frustration as she shook his arm.

Lucian looked away. “The price has gone far beyond its value. I’ll have another one custom-made for you later, something truly unique and even better than this.”

Camelia finally leaned against his shoulder, satisfied.

On the second floor, the private box was shrouded in complete silence.

Norman brought down the gavel, declaring the final winner. Rosalie swiped her card, and an attendant promptly carried over a lavishly wrapped, ornate box.

Rosalie handed it straight to Nydia. A soft, dimpled smile curved her lips, and her voice was sincere. “Mrs. Skeldon, a gift for you.”

Nydia’s eyes lit up with delight, and she grasped Rosalie’s hand warmly. “Oh, Ms. Ashford, this… This is far too generous! From now on, we’re best friends. Anything you need in Claver, just let me know!”

With that, she turned to glare at Howard. “Darling, what are you standing there for? Ms. Ashford is my good friend now, so her business is my business. Aren’t you going to help her get things done?”

Howard couldn’t help but chuckle, though his eyes lingered on Rosalie with curiosity.

He said, “Ms. Ashford, I’m genuinely curious. Since you have over 20 million dollars in spare funds, why not invest it directly into your company instead of using it to secure a project at my company for such a small margin?”
