Chapter 56 You Actually Know How to Cook

The next day, Rosalie went to the office and buried herself once more in Manfred’s books.

The board meeting was tomorrow, and Steven called again to press her for results. “Rosalie, has there been any progress? Have you figured out the solution to Stellar Group’s technical issue?”

Rosalie smiled and replied, “I’ve almost got it. I should be able to settle it tonight.”

After work, she returned to her apartment and ordered some takeout. She planned to eat quickly before

diving back into her work.

When she heard the knock on the door, she assumed it was the food delivery. But when she opened it,

Julian was standing there instead.

He was dressed in a black T-shirt and work pants that accentuated his broad shoulders and narrow waist. Carrying the takeout bag in one hand, his tall frame blocked out most of the light behind him.

Julian’s gaze lowered to her face, his voice low and steady as he asked, “This yours?”

Caught off guard, Rosalie nodded. “Yeah, I’ve been swamped working on a proposal, so I didn’t have time

to cook.”

He glanced at the order slip, and his brows immediately furrowed. “You actually eat pre-made meals?”

Looking embarrassed, she replied, “Eating it once in a while is fine.”

Before Rosalie could say more, Julian strode into the living room and tossed the food straight into the trash. His actions left her speechless.

“You-” she started, chasing after him, but he turned and asked, “Do you like pasta?”

Rosalie blinked. She was still trying to catch up when Julian’s deep voice came again, “If you’re that busy, I could use your kitchen and make you a bowl.”

She stared at him in shock. “You… You actually know how to cook?” she asked.

Julian simply said, “A person should at least have basic survival skills.”

Rosalie trailed him into the kitchen. She brought out pasta and some ingredients for him, but he waved

her off. “Go back to work. I’ll handle this.”

She gave him a look of admiration before she returned to her study.

Soon, the rich scent of tomatoes filled the air and crept insistently into the room. Then, Julian called out, his voice cool, “Come eat something first and then get back to work.”

On the table sat a steaming bowl of Bolognese pasta, topped with meatballs and parmesan cheese. It was just the type Rosalie loved.

“You’re incredible. It smells amazing!” she said with genuine delight.

Compared to other men, Julian really was remarkable. At the very least, he was miles ahead of Lucian.

Rosalie had remembered how Lucian had once insisted on baking her a pizza, only to serve up a burnt mess. She’d forced herself to eat a huge slice with a smile and told him it was delicious, only for her acute gastritis to act up that night.

After that disaster, Lucian never set foot in the kitchen again. The kitchen became her territory, and hers alone.

“Try it,” Julian said. She picked up her cutlery and tasted a mouthful of pasta coated in the savory sauce.

The pasta was springy and smooth, while the tomato’s sweet tang balanced perfectly with the richness of the sauce. To her surprise, it tasted even better than her own cooking.

Rosalie looked up at Julian in astonishment, only to find him leaning casually against the table. He was watching her intently, as if waiting for her verdict.

“It’s delicious! Like the best in the world!” she exclaimed. Then, unable to help herself, she asked, “If you can cook like this, then why do you live on instant noodles every day?”

For a moment, Julian’s eyes flickered. Then, he gave a brief answer. “It’s too much trouble to wash the

pots.”

Hearing that, Rosalie burst out laughing. Yes, that was laziness taken to a whole new level.

After finishing the meal, warmth spread through her stomach. It was easing away the fatigue and

frustration she had carried for days.

She stood up and said, “Let me clean up.”

But Julian was quicker. He swiped the dishes from her hands and said. “Didn’t you say you were busy?

Leave it. I’ll do it.”

Rosalie’s chest warmed at his kindness. “Thanks,” she softly said.

As she turned to leave for her study, she suddenly found herself explaining, almost against her own will, Stellar Group will be having its board meeting tomorrow. I have to fix their system’s technical flaw before then, and, at the same time, claim what’s rightfully mine.”

Julian responded with a hum before he lowered his gaze and began tidying up. Realizing what she’d just done, Rosalie felt awkward.

Why was she telling a firefighter about corporate battles and code? There was no way he’d understand. Just as she was about to walk away, his deep voice came from behind her.
