Chapter 49 She’s My Wife Now

Chapter 49 She’s My Wife Now

“Let go!” Rosalie said, struggling against Lucian’s grip.

Lucian’s lips curved into a cruel smile as he sneered, “Your mother must have told you by now, right? If it wasn’t for her, I wouldn’t have grown up without a mother!”

“That’s not true! It was Camelia! She risked her life to send your mother to the hospital!” Rosalie rebuked.

“Rosalie, you’re always saying I owe you, but all of my suffering was caused by your family!” Lucian shot back.

At that, Rosalie froze. She stared at him in shock. “What… What did you say?”

“Don’t play dumb!” Lucaim barked, his eyes burning with hatred. “You already knew, didn’t you? There had always been a blood feud between us!

“Your kindness to me was nothing but guilt disguised as compensation! And as for the fact that I spoiled you, that was only so that it would be even more satisfying when I finally dumped you!”

But what he hadn’t expected was that in their past life, after Camelia’s death and the loss of her parents, he found himself unable to let go.

Slowly, Lucian became obsessed with Rosalie. He was addicted to the feel of her body, leaving marks on her tender skin and falling asleep with her soft warmth in his arms.

It was as if only in that closeness could he fill the emptiness and darkness inside him. Yet he could not allow the daughter of his enemy to bear his child, so he hid the truth and watched coldly as she tried again and again to conceive, only to be crushed by disappointment each time.

Her endless suffering was his way of making the Ashfords and Fenwicks pay for their blood debt.

Rosalie’s mind went blank. A blood feud? That was impossible.

Their families had been close for generations, and Vanessa’s accident had happened only a week after their engagement. At the funeral, Lucian knelt rigid and silent, no matter how much Rosalie called out to

him.

She had thought he was too grief-stricken to respond. But in truth… had he hated her and her family?

So when he had disappeared for that month, it was Camelia who stayed with him? And when he came back with renewed tenderness and devotion, it was all an act? Just to make the final betrayal cut deeper?

It all began to make sense.

Rosalie let out a sharp laugh. “Lucian, what proof do you have? What evidence shows that my mother was the one who killed yours?”

“Then why don’t you go ask your dear mother about that! Ask her what she did on that day!” he roared. His eyes were vicious, and his voice was like a blade.

Chapter 49 She’s My Wife Now

The moment his words fell, a strong hand suddenly grabbed Rosalie’s wrist and yanked her free from Lucian’s grip. The force was firm, and the voice that followed was colder than the man himself.

“Sir, please mind yourself.”

Julian had appeared without warning. His tall figure shielded Rosalie completely as he declared, “She’s

my wife now.”

Lucian’s face twisted, his pupils shrank as he stared at the man who stood taller than him. “Mr. Yarwood?”

“He’s not,” Rosalie cut in quickly. “He just looks similar.”

Lucian was taken aback. The man’s attire was indeed plain, and his presence was far less imposing than

that of Mr. Yarwood. But… wife?

He hadn’t even processed the word before Rosalie was pulled by the arm and ushered into the passenger

seat of the Bentley by Julian.

The cars behind them honked impatiently, the noise filling the air. In the next instant, the Bentley sped off

and vanished down the road.

Lucian stood rooted to the spot as though nailed in place. The wind tugged at the hem of his suit, but it could not blow away the coldness that settled around him.

Wife? He let out a short, mocking laugh, and his mouth curved with disdain. That was impossible.

Rosalie couldn’t have found someone new so quickly. There was no doubt that she had deliberately hired some actor just to spite him.

How childish of her. She claimed that she wanted to cut ties, but wasn’t she still trying desperately to get his attention? After all, no one knew better than he did how much she loved him.

As he thought about this, Lucian straightened his collar and strode into the hospital. Casually, he asked the doctor, “By the way, did Rosalie come in today?”

The doctor gave him a strange look. “Aren’t you her boyfriend? How could you not know she’s been

hospitalized?”
