Chapter 41 Love and Adoration Were Distinctly Different

For two whole days, Rosalie didn’t receive any reply from Manfred. At the same time, however, Steven

hadn’t stopped calling her.

“Ms. Ashford, the board members have given us ten days to solve the Firmament System’s issue. The

shareholder’s meeting is in ten days, and if we can’t solve it by then, they’ll shut the system down!”

Rosalie couldn’t afford to wait anymore. She went straight to Manfred’s private residence during lunch

break. Surprisingly, she ran into Lucian and Camelia in the waiting area.

The moment he saw her, he stormed over and asked, “What are you doing here?”

Rosalie didn’t even bat an eye at Lucian. She merely walked forward and went inside.

“Miss, please get in line.” The household staff extended a hand and stopped her.

Rosalie was immediately stunned. She recognized the staff. A few years ago, she regularly came here, and he had always politely led her in.

“Don’t you know who I am?” she asked.

The household staff responded politely, but his tone was distant. “Prof. Fisher explicitly told me that everyone has to get in line to meet him.”

“Rosalie.” Camelia’s soft, gentle voice drifted through the air. “I know you’re anxious to show Prof. Fisher your thesis, but you can’t just barge in. That’s going to upset him. Let’s just wait together.”

While she made it sound like genuine advice, she was actually implying that Roselia was clueless about proper conduct.

Lucian stared at Rosalie and said, “Prof. Fisher will never see your thesis.”

Camelia immediately reached out and tugged at his sleeves.

Rosalie narrowed her eyes as a thought popped into her mind. She stared at Lucian icily as she asked.

“Did you do something to my thesis?”

Lucian didn’t deny it.

“There’s something seriously wrong with your thesis. It’s just that the second-tier college professors couldn’t tell and actually thought that they stumbled across an incredible thesis.

“If your thesis is submitted to Prof. Fisher, their reputation will be ruined. And you’ll have destroyed your

own future.”

Lucian stared at Rosalie and said matter-of-factly, “I’m looking out for you.”

Rosalie suddenly laughed. She turned around and stared daggers at Camelia.

“You did this, didn’t you? You just can’t bear the idea of me doing well in my life.”

Camelia wore an innocent expression. “Rosalie, what are you talking about? I want nothing but the best for you, more than anyone else could.”

Lucian immediately stood in front of her. He reacted as if Rosalie stepped on his toes and snarled,

Rosalie Ashford!

“Do you think you could’ve graduated without Camelia’s help, let alone win the title of outstanding

graduate? It’s bad enough that you’re ungrateful, but you just have to be so hostile. Where is your decency?”

Rosalie chuckled. She stared at the two of them and spoke in an icy, mocking tone.

“I might’ve been a fool, but it seems you are too. Your precious ‘Melia’ sure has my best interest at heart.”

At the next moment, the household staff returned and greeted Lucian.

“Mr. Fenwick, Prof. Fisher will meet you now.”

“Wonderful!” Camelia immediately perked up and merrily linked arms with him.

“Lucian, Prof. Fisher must’ve been willing to take me as his apprentice after reading my thesis!”

Lucian glared at Rosalie, the menace in his eyes unmistakable. Turning around, he held Camelia’s hand,

and his tone immediately softened.

“Prof. Fisher had made it clear that he would only accept one apprentice. Given how incredible your

talents are, I’m not surprised he took a shine to you.”

Then, Lucian shot a look at Rosalie.

“I don’t care what you’re here for, but I want you to get rid of your foolish ideas. You’d better leave right now if you don’t want your future to be ruined.”

Rosalie stood where she was, her heart sinking as she watched Lucian lead Camelia inside. There was a

time when she told him that she also wanted to become Manfred’s apprentice, her heart filled with hope.

Yet, his response was entirely different.

“I’m busy as it is. If you occupy yourself with this, when are we going to have time to see each other?”

And that was exactly why Rosalie gave up on it.

Now, however, Lucian went above and beyond to give Camelia the chance. He even showed up in person to pave the way for her.

As it turned out, love and adoration were distinctly different. To love someone deeply meant giving up everything so the other person could soar to the height of success.

As for adoration, it was nothing like that.

It was no wonder that Rosalie ended up so dependent and powerless, her identity gone and her dreams

crushed. She had mistaken it all for love.

Before long, the door opened once more.
