Chapter 37 Her Regular Spot With Lucian
Camelia looked into Rosalie’s eyes.
“Is that true, Ms. Ashford?”
Rosalie took a deep breath as a dry, bitter taste rose in her throat.
She nodded. “It is. I enrolled in this college because of my ex-boyfriend. Excuse me, but how is this
related to my thesis?”
Camelia suddenly chuckled. “It’s not. I was just messing with you. You didn’t think I was serious, did you?”
She turned and faced the other professors. “Ms. Ashford’s thesis is very well made. She has some fresh ideas with solid reasoning. She has my vote to pass.”
The other professors felt relieved and grinned approvingly.
When Rosalie walked out of the classroom, she had an awful look on her face.
Her fellow students asked in a concerned tone, “Rosalie, what took you so long? Did the guest judge from
MiraTech give you a hard time too?”
Rosalie didn’t respond at all. She grabbed her stuff and swiftly left the building. Then, she made her way
to the field and sat in the last row of the stands.
Several couples walked past the synthetic tracks, the winds carrying their laughter to her. In her daze, she
recalled that she had often hung out with Lucian in this field.
He studied at Hamilton Law College, and she couldn’t get to his campus whenever she felt like it. So, he always went to her when he had the chance.
Lucian spent all his time on Rosalie’s campus except when he had to go to class or sleep at night. Hand
in hand, they walked around the field several times as if they could go on forever.
She wasn’t sure how long she had sat there, but she saw two familiar figures at some point. She instinctively grabbed her handbag and took off in the opposite direction.
A little way behind Rosalie, Lucian and Camelia were holding hands. She tilted her head as she leaned on
his shoulder, her voice soft and low as she spoke.
Yet, Lucian was a little distracted, his gaze unfocused as it fell into the distance. He seemed to have caught something she said, and he immediately snapped out of it.
“What did you say?”
Camelia asked helplessly, “Were you spacing out just now? I said I thought I saw Rosalie.”
Lucian quickly turned around and swept his gaze across the field.

“Where is she?”
Camelia’s gaze darkened. Reaching out, she held him by the waist and spoke unhappily.
“She’s gone already. Why did you bring me here for no reason? There’s nothing cool here.”
Lucian turned his gaze away, his voice low and deep.
“I just wanted to take a stroll here. After all…” He trailed off before he continued, “I might not come here
anymore.”
Camelia held him tighter and changed the topic, bringing up something else as if it just occurred to her.
“Anyway, Rosalie has done a marvelous job with her thesis this time. That said, there were several issues with it. I asked her the easiest question I could think of and let her pass. I was worried that she couldn’t
answer it.
“But, Prof. Zeller said he’s gonna recommend her thesis to Prof. Fisher.”
Camelia paused briefly before she went on in a concerned tone. “I’m a little worried that it’ll affect
Rosalie’s future.”
Lucian narrowed his eyes. She noticed the look on his face and quietly sighed.
“I was planning to become Prof. Fisher’s apprentice so I can participate in the International Al
Competition at the end of the year. But if he knows that the thesis I handled was riddled with flaws, he just might not…”
Camelia trailed off before she continued. “But that’s fine, I guess. The only thing that matters is that
Rosalie gets to graduate. It’s fine if I can’t become Prof. Fisher’s apprentice.”
Lucian’s eyebrows knitted tightly, and rage rose in his chest.
“Rosalie had never taken anything seriously in the past, and she’s still the same person to this day.”
Lowering his head, he looked at Camelia in his arms.
‘I won’t let her be an obstacle to your bright future. I’ll handle it and make sure Prof. Zeller never gets her
thesis.”
Camelia’s eyes sparkled for a second. Then, she concealed her feelings and sighed before speaking in a
resigned tone.
“Fine. We’ll do it your way.”
