Chapter 36 The Reason She Chose This College
“No, there’s nothing wrong at all!” lan stood up in excitement. “You’ve amazed me in ways I can’t describe! I can’t believe this thesis was written by my student.
“Ms. Ashford, I have to recommend this to Professor Fisher! He’s going to be intrigued by the framework.
in your thesis!”
Manfred Fisher was a giant in the artificial intelligence field. Hearing the name, Rosalie’s gaze darkened,
and she said nothing in return.
At that moment, crisp laughter cut through the air, breaking the excitement.
“Ms. Ashford’s thesis is indeed incredible. Since you built the framework on your own, I assume you’re
very familiar with all the data in it.
“I have a question for you. Why is it that the threshold for ‘artificially injected perturbation’ shows an abnormally sharp drop when your model enters the third stage of adversarial attack simulation? That
inflection point in the data doesn’t match any existing theory we know of.
“Is it possible that…” Camelia trailed off, narrowing her eyes slightly before continuing. “You weren’t the
person who created the core data at all?”
At the next moment, everyone was stunned. The excitement on lan’s face instantly turned into shock and concern. The other professors exchanged worried looks as well.
Camelia had just asked a critical question. This was no longer an academic discussion. No, she was directly questioning the very authenticity of Rosalie’s thesis.
Rosalie fell silent for a brief moment before she spoke.
“The inflection point isn’t abnormal at all. It is a decoy trap I crafted to counter attacks from shadow
models.
“When the system detects adversarial samples being injected beyond the usual threshold, it instantly
drags the noise value down to a deceptively low safe level.
“The shadow model is misled, and their attack path and data source are exposed in the process. You could think of it as a reverse honeypot.”
Rosalie delivered her explanation smoothly without so much as a second of hesitation.
The professors were stunned at first. Then, their eyes sparkled brighter than ever. Camelia stared at Rosalie, a hint of shock flashing in her eyes. She suddenly chuckled and started applauding.
“What an incredible idea. Ms. Ashford, you are truly talented. That said, something does strike me as strange.
“With your level of expertise, you could’ve easily chosen a better college. So, why did you study here

instead?”

Camelia paused for a second before she added, “I’m not trying to criticize this college. I wouldn’t have agreed to become a guest judge for the thesis presentation if I thought it wasn’t good enough.
“What I’m trying to say is that you would’ve fit right in at MiraTech College.”
The professors gasped sharply. They couldn’t believe that Camelia would’ve given Rosalie such a
commendation.
Rosalie quietly clenched her fists.
Obviously, Camelia knew why Rosalie chose to study in this college. She merely masked her malicious intention as a compliment, forcing the latter to bring up her ugly history.
Rosalie looked up and met Camelia’s gaze. “I don’t want to answer this question.”
Camelia raised an eyebrow, threw her hands in the air, and spoke as if what she would say next weighed heavily on her.
“I’m sorry, but I can’t approve your thesis.”
“Ms. Becker!”
Before Rosalie could respond, lan, who knew her situation well, sprang to his feet.
“Ms. Ashford enrolled in our college because her boyfriend studied at Hamilton Law College, which is
right next to our college.”
Rosalie quietly sighed.
That was it. She did it for Lucian. Back when it was time to choose a college, she didn’t even check her SAT score, despite the fact that she was the top student. The only thing she could think of was where he would go.
Regrettably, Hamilton Law College didn’t have any courses that Rosalie was interested in. That was why she chose a second-tier college that was right next door.
That was the absurd reason for her choice of college.
It didn’t matter how incredible Rosalie’s performance was in the company. People would never stop
making fun of her behind her back, saying her success was entirely because she was the chairman’s
daughter.
After all, she merely graduated from a second-tier college with poor credentials. There was no way she could hold a candle to an elite who studied in MiraTech College.
