Chapter 31 Stubborn as Always
Charles finally raised his gaze. For the first time, he looked Rosalie in the eyes, his gaze piercing.
“The Firmament System’s user data privacy framework doesn’t have a great reputation in the industry.” He
said icily, his tone scrutinizing and oppressive.
Rosalie forced herself to calm down and meet his gaze.
“That was a compromise I had to make due to a business decision, not a technical flaw. If I were to
spearhead Vista Furnishings’ project, I would use federated learning and differential privacy to guarantee users’ data stays completely secure without compromising their experience.”
Charles narrowed his eyes slightly. “Words are meaningless without evidence.”
“Give me a chance to present you with a proposal and prove myself then.”
Rosalie looked him in the eyes, her tone calm and confident.
After a brief silence, Charles turned his gaze away and leaned on the couch leisurely once more, humming in response.
Reuben hurriedly said to Rosalie, “Ms. Ashford, I’m going to need you to submit the proposal as soon as
you can. We’ll evaluate it and give you an answer!”
“Thank you, Mr. Yarwood, Mr. Fitzgerald.”
Rosalie nodded politely, turned around calmly, and left the VIP room. The moment the door was closed, Richard squealed in a hushed voice.
“Ms. Ashford, you’re incredible! You actually closed the deal! My legs have gone wobbly while I was outside. I thought you’d be kicked out for sure!”
Richard looked at Rosalie with admiration.
She let out a sigh of relief, her tense muscles finally relaxing after so long. She glanced up casually and found herself meeting someone’s grim gaze.
Lucian was standing not far away, holding a glass of champagne and staring at her with unblinking eyes. His expression was dark, and his eyes were blazing with rage.
Rosalie froze for a moment before lifting her chin at him, taunting him. Then, she turned around and left, not giving him another glance.
Camelia approached Lucian, her tone tender and gentle as she spoke.
“Now that Rosalie got a bidding right with Vista Furnishings, she stands a chance to bring Vertex Tech
back to its feet.”
Lucian snorted coldly, his gaze darkening.

“Getting a bidding right isn’t the same as landing the collaboration.”
If it were this easy to save Vertex Tech, it wouldn’t have gone bankrupt that quickly in the past life.
Lucian just didn’t get it. Rosalie had been reincarnated as well. She, of all people, should know that it was a lost cause. So, why did she insist on committing herself to a doomed quest?
Was it because she wanted to upset him? Was this her way of getting his concern and attention, despite
how immature and stupid it obviously was?
Lucian slowly tightened his grip over the wine glass before loosening it and shaking his head helplessly.
They had been given a second shot at life, but Rosalie was still the same stubborn, naive person that she
was.
Rosalie had gotten what she came for. So, she chatted with Richard for a while before leaving the cocktail party.
There was still time, though. So, she made her way to Ursula’s place.
“I’ve got something to tell you, and it’s gonna surprise you.”
Rosalie sank into the couch, still not entirely grasping the situation.
“That cousin of yours looks exactly like Charles Yarwood.”
Ursula involuntarily spat the soda she had drunk a second ago, her eyes widening in surprise.
“What did you just say? Did you see Charles in person?”
Rosalie nodded. “I did, and he was kind of scary. That said, I secured a bidding right with Vista Furnishings through him.”
Ursula’s lips twitched uneasily. “Did you tell Julian about it, then?”
“Yeah.” Rosalie rested her chin on her hands. “He told me that this wasn’t the first time people compared his likeness to Charles.”
Ursula snapped her finger. “That’s right! They just look like each other. That’s all there is to it!”
She leaned closer, giving Rosalie a teasing look as she asked.
“Let’s drop this and talk about Julian instead. How are things between you two? Did you guys kiss and hug each other?”
Rosalie’s carefree expression faded. She fell silent for a while before she gave Ursula a serious look. “Ursie, I’m going to come clean to you.”
