Chapter 27 Richard Is My Plus-One
Rosalie’s heart skipped a beat as she looked at Julian’s face just inches away, his unfathomable eyes looking like they could see through everything.
She decided to flash him a warm, affectionate smile, her dimples faintly showing.
“I would like you to attend a function tomorrow evening. Will you do it for me?”
Julian frowned. “I’m busy.”
Rosalie’s smile immediately froze. She was reminded of how quickly she had rejected him last time. He
was just so petty.
She felt a little frustrated, but there was nothing she could do either. Her lips twitched as she spoke.
“Alright, then. Forget I asked.” Pointing at the food container on the shelf, she added, “Eat it while it’s hot.”
With a gentle thud, the door closed.
Julian grabbed and held the food container up. It was pink, and it looked adorable. His gaze darkened,
and he seemed to be lost in thought.
The next evening, Rosalie arrived at the business cocktail party. She had just given her invitation to the waiting staff when a lady’s soft voice came from behind.
“Rosalie, are you here for the cocktail party too?”
Rosalie cursed under her breath. Fate had a way of bringing enemies together, it seemed.
She turned around and saw Camelia walking over with a high-end custom dress, her arms affectionately wrapping around Lucian’s.
Rosalie hummed nonchalantly.
Camelia seemingly didn’t notice how cold and uninterested Rosalie was. She even leaned against Lucian and made sure to adopt a casual tone as she spoke to Rosalie.
“Lucian handpicked this dress for me. He sure has good taste, huh?”
Rosalie’s lips twitched. She ignored Camelia and turned around, intending to walk away with Richard.
“Rosalie,” Lucian called out to her, his voice low and cold.
He gave his invitation to the waiting staff, and his eyes narrowed when his gaze landed on Richard.
“You don’t have a plus-one. It’s better if you go to the party with me.”
Rosalie turned around and wrapped an arm around Richard’s.

“He’s my plus-one.”
Richard immediately blushed. He was so nervous he could barely move his hands and feet.
Lucian’s eyes immediately narrowed as he stared at Rosalle, her hand tightly linked with Richard’s. He used to hold it and kiss it countless times, and yet it was entwined with someone else’s arm intimately
now.
“Rosalie, you don’t have to do this. He’s just your assistant, after all.”
Lucian looked at her the way he would an inconsiderate child.
“The company you’re working for will shut down soon enough. You would’ve fared better if you had worked in my company instead. I have some vacant positions. You can take whichever one you like.”
“Yeah, Rosalie. Lucian has just fired some problem employees in Fenwick Corp. Now, everyone in the
company looks up to him,” Camelia said, her eyes sparkling as she gazed at him.
“Stellar Group just struck a collaboration with Fenwick Corp, too. Rosalie, if you work at Fenwick Corp, no
one’s gonna badmouth you. After all, Lucian’s got your back.”
Rosalie’s eyes flickered. In the past life, Fenwick Corp was plagued with troubling issues back-to-back,
and Lucian had stomped them out with his trademark ruthlessness.
To her surprise, he managed to fire the toxic people much earlier this time around. Indeed, he had always
possessed this sort of mettle.
Even when Lucian called off the engagement, he did a good job handling the following turbulence that hit
both companies. It didn’t even affect the stock market on the next day.
Rosalie’s lips twitched, her tone dry and bland.
“If Fenwick Corp is so promising, maybe you should work there instead. It’s better than working as a mere assistant director at Stellar Group.”
