“Romina, I won’t let you get away with this! Just you wait!” 

Nadine’s angry voice continued to echo behind her, but Miguel promptly threw her out. 

After reaching the restroom, Romina stood in front of the mirror, repeatedly examining her face. 

She had struck back with considerable force just now, and the handprint on her face was especially red.

As soon as Miguel finished speaking, Romina heard familiar footsteps suddenly approaching from out- side the door. 

She quickly let go of the doorknob and walked toward the treatment bed. 

She turned the side of her face that had been slapped away from his line of sight. 

She hadn’t even had time to put down the ointment in her hand before the door was pushed open from outside. 

Romina looked up toward the door, her voice betraying her nervousness. “Mr. Bowman, what brings you here so suddenly?”

From Joaquin’s perspective, he saw Romina looking at him sideways, holding a cotton swab and oint- ment, her face visibly tense. 

But there was no patient in sight… 

The man strode toward her. “What happened to you? Are you hurt somewhere?” 

Romina instinctively swallowed, then shook her head. “No.” 

For some reason, she just didn’t want him to see the side of her face that had been slapped. 

Joaquin set the box in his hand aside, noticing that she kept turning her face away from him. 

“What happened to your face?” 

Joaquin reached out, gripping her chin, trying to turn her face toward him. 

Romina’s hand tightened slightly around the ointment. 

She was unwilling to turn her face for him to see. 

But the more she resisted, the more intense the curiosity in the man’s eyes became. 

“Turn your face toward me.” 

Joaquin’s tone was commanding, but she still refused to turn. 

The next second, the man grabbed her chin with his other hand and forcefully turned her face. 

The side of her face that had been slapped was now clearly visible in his eyes. 

The man’s brows furrowed sharply, his voice dropping to a deep, cold tone. “Who hit you?” 

Now that he knew, Romina’s hand loosened around the ointment, and she immediately lowered her head to unscrew the cap. 

Her tone was utterly indifferent. “No one.” 

As she lowered her head, she also broke free from his grasp. 

The man’s expression grew even more serious as he lifted her face again. “Was it Jericho? Did he just come by?” 

Romina was forced to meet his gaze.

This answer genuinely surprised Romina. 

She looked up in astonishment. “Why would Nasir go after her?” 

“Because you weren’t the only one who drugged Nadine that day.” 

Joaquin dipped a cotton swab into the ointment, lifted his gaze to look at her brows and eyes, his voice deep and low. 

A look of growing surprise appeared in Romina’s eyes. “What do you mean? Did she drug Nasir that day too? Why would she do that?” 

“Because he wanted something to happen between the two of you, so he set up this whole situation.” 

The man reached out with his slender, well–defined fingers, lifted her chin, and tilted her face slightly to the side. 

A faint flush appeared on her skin, instantly coming into view.
