Hugging Kathie back, Harriet gently patted her on the back and 

comforted her, saying, “Don’t worry, I definitely won’t avoid you. 

We’ll always be best friends.” 

Holding Harriet, Kathie added, “All these years, I’ve never called 

you sister–in–law. Forget it, I can’t be bothered now. Let’s just 

keep being good sisters.” 

Harriet nodded vigorously. “Mm–hmm.” 

Although she had made peace with Harriet, Kathie still couldn’t 

swallow her anger. 

After dinner that evening, once Harriet left the Townsend’s 

mansion, Kathie called Ellsworth and gave him a thorough 

scolding. 

She called him stupid, said he didn’t know how to act spoiled or 

coax a woman. 

But she didn’t mention the agreement.

Harriet had just gotten home when Ellsworth came out of the 

bedroom.

back to her room. Ellsworth found it amusing and teased, 

“Feeling guilty? Can’t even look at me?” 

Harriet replied, “No, it’s getting late. You should rest early.” 

Harriet always used this line to end conversations. Ellsworth 

was amused and said with a smile, “It’s only a little after eight. 

Still early.”

Then, before Harriet could respond, he said, “Come on, Ms. 

Chavez, let’s talk in the study.” 

He had worked overtime at the company that afternoon, when 

Raymond called and scolded him harshly, then told him to get 

back to the Townsend’s mansion. 

After he got back, Raymond threw the divorce agreement at him 

and told him to sign it quickly. 

When he left the backyard with the divorce agreement, he saw 

her and Kathie hugging as if they’d suffered a great grievance, 

so he didn’t go over to disturb them and left through the side 

yard. 

After coming home, he had been waiting for her to return. 

When Ellsworth said to talk in the study, Harriet immediately 

understood. 

Grandpa had already spoken to Ellsworth, and he had probably already received the divorce agreement she had signed. 

So she glanced at Ellsworth and went to the study with him. 

This was something that should have been discussed seriously 

long ago. He should have signed it long ago.

slightly, and casually placed his hands on the desk, trapping 

Harriet in his arms.

Listening to Ellsworth, Harriet thought he had already signed the agreement and that she could submit the application on 

Monday. 

But then, Ellsworth casually tossed the agreement onto the table and said indifferently, “Just don’t bother Grandpa with this 

again, and don’t wear yourself out over it.”
