After Romina went inside, Miguel walked up to Valery and asked curiously, “Ms. Murray, how are you feeling?” 

“Don’t make me hit you!” 

Valery gritted her teeth as she spoke these words. 

“If you hit me in front of all these people, you might not just have to apologize today–you could end up in jail. Doesn’t seem worth it, does it?” 

A faint, ambiguous smile appeared on Miguel’s face. 

Valery turned and glared at him. “Where did Romina find someone like you? Other than your face, you have absolutely nothing going for you.” 

Miguel raised his index finger and waved it in front of her. “No, besides being good–looking, I’m also a decent doctor, and I have a sharp tongue. I’m the type who can argue someone to death without a second thought, so you’d better not mess with me.” 

Valery was so angry that her whole body trembled. “You just wait!” 

Miguel ignored her, leaning against the doorframe of the clothing shop, watching the scene unfold with satisfaction. 

By the time Romina finished work, it was already past eight in the evening. 

As she was getting ready to go home, Abbie called to update her on Lina’s situation.

Romina quickly closed the front door and glanced back at Elliana. “Yes, she’s already asleep”

“But Abbie said she doesn’t eat much at school and isn’t very lively. She suggested we pay more attention to her lately.” 

“Alright.” Elliana patted her on the back and comforted her softly, “We’ll take her out to play and talk to her gently. She’ll get better, little by little.” 

“Mm.” Romina seemed to remember something and spoke again, “Tomorrow night I have to go to the Bowman’s mansion. I’ll leave the child with you. I might come back very late, or maybe not at all.” 

“Why do you have to go to the Bowman’s mansion again? Has Sir Bowman’s health gotten 

worse?” 

Elliana looked at her curiously, a hint of confusion in her eyes. 

“No, it’s his birthday tomorrow. The Bowman family is throwing him a big birthday party. Joaquin is worried something might happen, so he asked me to keep an eye on things the 

whole time.” 

Elliana frowned slightly. “So basically, you’re going there as a doctor…” 

Romina smiled faintly. “You could say that. 

She hadn’t told anyone about her arrangement with Joaquin–not even Elliana knew 

Elliana replied softly, “Don’t worry, just go. I’ll take care of the child.” 

“Alright.” 

Since she had to go to the hotel tomorrow and wouldn’t have time to come back and change, Romina prepared a fitted white strapless evening dress in advance and took it with her to the wellness clinic,

Although the Bowman’s mansion was located halfway up the hill, it was the only house in the area. The yard was huge, easily accommodating twenty or thirty banquet tables. 

A carpet stretched from the gate of the yard all the way to the front door of the villa.
