Chapter 7 

When the child was born, he planned to register him under Samantha’s name. 

In their circle, this was nothing unusual. 

But Samantha refused, even giving him the cold shoulder. After enough back-and-forth, he grew tired of the fight. 

He never turned any of the mistresses, flings, secretaries, or college girls away. 

That was, until Katherine came along. 

She was smart, had good genes-perfect to be the mother of his child. 

But this time, the usually gentle Samantha went mad, stirring up trouble for Katherine at every turn. 

It was one thing to bully her, but she even showed up at his place to slap Katherine across the face. 

That, he couldn’t tolerate-not when his woman was being humiliated. 

So, he had someone make a fake video to scare Samantha. 

It was fake. 

All of it was fake. 

But the blood-red remains in front of him now told him Joyce’s death was all too real. 

The daughter he had cherished like a treasure had been nailed to death in their own garage. 

Joseph suddenly laughed. 

He bent over, his strained laughter echoing in the silent operating room, sounding all the more chilling. 

His beloved mistress had killed his daughter right under his nose. 

And he he had been the fool handing her the knife. 

He laughed until tears streamed down his cheeks, until guilt and hatred surged over him like a tidal wave, threatening to drown him.

When Katherine woke and didn’t see him, she quickly got up and stood in the doorway, calling out, “Joe, where are you?” 

Her words had barely left her mouth when he appeared-face pale as death. 

She froze for a moment, then hurried over to wipe the sweat from his forehead, her expression full of concern. “What’s wrong?” 

Joseph slowly turned his head, staring at her with a gaze as cold as the grave. “Did you do something behind my back?” 

Her steps faltered. Her fists clenched tight, but she forced a smile. “Joe, I’m carrying your child. What could I possibly be hiding from you?” 

His gaze dropped from her face to her slightly rounded belly. 

His fists tightened, his expression growing so dark it seemed to draw all the light from the room. 

The moment he thought of Joyce being tortured to death with 500 nails, he wanted to return every sin- gle one of them to the woman in front of him. 

But before killing her, he needed the truth. 

He took out his phone and played a video in front of her. 

In it, several burly men were suspended in the air by chains, their bodies beaten beyond recognition. 

Katherine’s heart skipped, and she instinctively stepped back. 

In the past, even the smallest scare would have him wrapping her in his arms. 

But now, 

his eyes were ice, fixed on her like a predator cornering its prey. 

“Was it you who had Joyce tied up and locked in the garage? Was it you who ordered 500 nails driven into her body, one by one? Was it you who sent people disguised as specialists to dissolve her corpse in acid?” 

With each question, he struck her hard across the face. 

By the third slap, she was on the floor, five finger marks swelling across her cheeks. 

Even then, she refused to give up. She thought that he wouldn’t kill her since he had lost his daughter, and she was carrying his child. 

On her knees, eyes red, she grabbed at his pant leg.

“Joe! I… I was just so angry at how Mrs. Barnes treated me! I only wanted to teach her a lesson; I didn’t mean for this to happen. It was those men-they went too far. You have to believe me! It wasn’t me! 

“After it happened, I knew I had gone too far. But those two doctors weren’t mine, and those men… they were all from the same group. They hated you for taking their boss’ project, so they-”
