Chapter 6
Usually immersed himself in medical research and had no time to read online gossip.
“Nolthen, what’s going on between you and your fincee? Last week, she was beaten and hospitalized for a miscarriage and this week it’s your turn to go to the hospital.”
Nolthen suddenly looked up, shocked.
“She had a miscarriage?”
Zane was unaware of the conflict between his friend and me, even unaware of his friend unusually agitated expression.
“Yeah, she’s two months pregnant and kicked out in her abdomen. You didn’t know that when she was brought to the hospital, her jacket was stained red with blood and she almost died from the bleeding.”
‘She said you’re busy with your work and asked me not to tell you. Why don’t you care about her health?”
Hearing this news, his thoughts drifted back to our engagement night two months ago…
He suddenly remembered my words and his face turned pale.
Nolthen, are you sure the stain on my jacket is red ink? Not my blood?
What did he say?
He said impossible!
He sat alone on the hospital bed dejectedly, not even noticing Zane left.
Until Serge came in a panic.
‘Sir, bad news. Ms. Aaldorp’s brother was murdered in the detention center. I’ve discovered i was someone Ms. Hill bribed. Ms. Aaldorp went to the detention center last month to claim the body.”
‘And I checked the traffic control at the hospital entrance. It was Ms. Hill who initiated the attack, deliberately provoking Ms. Aaldorp ….”
Volthen slumped down on the stool in shock, gasping for air.
No wonder I hadn’t begged him since last month. He thought I had changed for the better and accepted his terms.
He never expected I had given up and had been planning to leave him.
Thinking back on all the things he had done to me before, suddenly something seemed to be bulled away from his heart.
Empty.
Kaitlyn, who had come to visit him with a lunch box, stood at the door. The color drained from her face as she listened to their conversation.
Nolthen directed his gaze to the door, heartbroken.
“Kaitlyn, why?”
He knew his secretary’s abilities well. He wouldn’t have spoken without concrete evidence.
Under his fierce gaze, she knew the situation was hopeless, so she rushed to save herself.
Now, she no longer had to hide her feelings for him and she stared at him with fascination.
She believed that no matter what she did, Nolthen would forgive her.
“Yes, I did it.’
“But Nolthen, it’s because I love you. Don’t you love me too?”.
“If she leaves, you still have me. I can marry you and have children for you….”
He looked at her like a stranger, never expected her to say such shameless words.
He pushed her away without hesitation, his eyes devoid of any pity for her.
“Kaitlyn, I only treat you as a younger sister. If I’ve misunderstood you in any way before, I apologize. But the only person I truly want to marry is Calista, not you.”
“You don’t love me! Then why are you so nice to me?”
Kaitlyn stared at him in disbelief, tears streaming down her face, yet she couldn’t move him in the slightest.
This sentence suddenly enlightened him.
He clearly realized – the reason our relationship had reached to this point was because he hadn’t properly understood the differences between men and women in his dealings with his mentor’s daughter.
After that day, he refused to see her again.
His impulsive behavior led to the bankruptcy of the Eaton Corporation, which vanished from the Celestia commercial district.
While he struggled to start a new business and repay his debts, he also sought information about me everywhere, but to no avail.
