Chapter 11

“And one more thing-Lianna only lost that child tonight. The fetus should still be in the hospital. If you really want the truth, go test the DNA. See for yourself whether that child was yours… or

your

driver’s.”

With that, I turned and walked away without looking back.

This time, Hubert didn’t stop me.

My so-called reconciliation wasn’t an act of mercy, nor was it forgiveness. It was calculated. I wanted Hubert and Lianna to tear each other apart like rabid dogs.

A simple detention was far too light a punishment for him.

And it wouldn’t touch Lianna at all.

What I wanted was for Hubert to rip open his own festering wounds, to expose the rot in his perfect life for everyone to see.

Everything Lianna had done to smear me, all the filth she had poured onto me-I would return it a hundredfold.

In the days that followed, the scandal only grew online.

Streamers churned out posts and videos, condemning me with righteous fury.

The comment sections overflowed with venom, each insult harsher than the last.

To avoid unnecessary trouble, I stayed home, quietly waiting.

Waiting for Hubert to uncover the truth.

Finally, one night, the internet exploded with breaking news.

[Hubert Ferguson, the wealthiest man in New York, murdered his wife and his driver with his own hands. He then turned himself in to the police. He is now in prison.]

The headline spread like wildfire.

Almost at the same moment, the official account of the Ferguson Corporation released a pre-recorded video of Hubert himself.

The video was simple, and direct.

He confessed the truth.

He declared that I had been wronged, that every accusation against me was a lie fabricated by

Lianna.

He revealed that before their marriage, Lianna and his driver had already been having an affair.

Even the child she carried wasn’t his-it was the driver’s.

Unable to accept the betrayal, he ended their lives with his own hands.

At the end of the video, Hubert bowed deeply, apologizing to me with sincerity that shook the nation.

He cleared my name with the weight of his own downfall.

The impact was immediate.

Commenters filled threads with remorse, many offered sympathy, begging me to open an account so they could send donations.

And then-

Even Blake, the man who had moved out and filed for divorce, appeared at my door again.

When I opened it, I saw him standing there, guilt written across his face.

“Celestine,” he said softly, “I know the truth now. I’m sorry-for how badly I misunderstood you.”

His apology sounded sincere. But it didn’t move me in the slightest.

I looked at him with a calm detachment.

“Don’t you think this apology comes a little too late?”

“Blake, we’ve been married for years. You, of all people, should know what kind of person I am.”

“We shared the same bed, the same life. And yet you let a few words from outsiders turn me into a monster in your eyes.”

I had never cared what others said about me.

Whether it was Hubert or strangers condemning me-it didn’t matter.

They were irrelevant. Their opinions had no power over me.

But Blake was different.

His judgment cut me open. Because the man I had loved, the man I had trusted, had abandoned me at the first whisper of suspicion.

He hadn’t even tried to defend me.

He simply chose to believe the worst, and in doing so, shattered my heart beyond repair.

Hearing my words, Blake’s eyes darkened with sorrow. He looked at me, his voice trembling as he tried to explain.
