Chapter163
If he had a daughter, if he could have a son–in–law like Ellsworth,
Voyage Group wouldn’t have been acquired today–it would have
been saved.
Edgar said, “That’s right, that’s right. Having Ells in the Graham
family is a blessing for us all.”
There were many people at the table, most of them Edgar’s
generation, so Ellsworth didn’t say much, but he gave the
Graham family plenty of face.
After several rounds of drinks, Ellsworth’s phone suddenly rang.
It was a WhatsApp notification.
The banquet was boring, and since it wasn’t the Townsend
Group’s event, Ellsworth picked up his phone and opened the
WhatsApp message.
The next second, Ellsworth’s expression instantly darkened.
Over a dozen photos in a row–all of them showed Harriet having
fried chicken and burgers with Reginald and his daughter.
Chapter163
In the photos, Harriet smiled as gently as a spring breeze. She
not only took careful care of Gracelyn, but Gracelyn would also
sometimes feed her and Reginald, and Reginald looked after
her as well.
Anyone who didn’t know better would think they were a family
of three.
The more Ellsworth flipped through the photos, the happier
Harriet looked, and the darker his expression became.
Beside him, seeing Ellsworth’s gloomy face, Kelsey quickly put
down her fork, turned to him, and asked softly, “Ells, what’s
wrong?”
Exiting WhatsApp on his phone, Ellsworth tossed the phone
back onto the table with just the right amount of force, his face
expressionless as he said, “It’s nothing.”
Seeing this, Kelsey quickly smiled and picked up some food for
Ellsworth. “You haven’t eaten much. Have a bit more.”
While Kelsey was being attentive, Ellsworth’s mind was filled
with the image of Harriet dining with Reginald and his daughter.
For a moment, he felt a pang of jealousy.
Chapter163
Even so, after the Graham family luncheon ended, Ellsworth
didn’t go looking for Harriet because of it. He didn’t contact her,
nor did he ask her anything.
He had seen what he had seen, and that was that.
It was as if… nothing had happened at all.
It wasn’t until after work in the evening, when Harriet, carrying
her bag and car keys, walked in high heels toward the open–air
parking lot in front of the office building, that a black sedan
parked nearby honked at her several times.
Harriet turned to look and, seeing the familiar license plate, her
steps gradually slowed until she stopped.
Ellsworth.
What was he doing here?
Seeing Harriet stop in surprise, Ellsworth slowly rolled down the
window, rested both hands on the steering wheel, and looked at
her lazily as he asked, “Why are you just standing there? Not
going home?”
Hearing Ellsworth’s voice, Harriet started walking again.
Chapter 163
She walked toward him.
At that moment, Ellsworth said lazily, “Get in the car.”
Seeing Ellsworth act so nonchalant, Harriet looked at him, but in
the end, she still opened the car door and got in.
Because her intuition told her that Ellsworth had something to
discuss with her.
After Harriet got in, Ellsworth stepped on the gas and took her
to a restaurant.
Since they got married, this was the first time the two of them
had dined out alone together.
A small private room in the lobby on the first floor.
They sat side by side, surrounded by other diners outside, the
place lively with laughter and conversation.
The air was full of the warmth of everyday life.
At the table, Ellsworth sat with a confident posture, flipping
through the menu and ordering several of Harriet’s favorite
dishes.
After he finished ordering, he handed the menu to Harriet.
Chapter 163
Harriet said that was enough and didn’t add anything else.
Hearing this, Ellsworth handed the menu to the waiter.
Meanwhile, Harriet poured him some tea and said, “If you have
something to say, just say it. No need to go through all this
trouble.”
She guessed that the divorce agreement must be ready.
This meal was Ellsworth’s way of treating her to a farewell
dinner.
Hearing Harriet’s words, Ellsworth smiled. “Do I have to have a
reason to invite you to dinner?”
With that, Ellsworth reached up to tuck a stray lock of hair
behind her ear, then lifted her chin and studied her face, smiling
as he said, “You’re getting prettier and prettier.”
As for her lunch with Reginald and his daughter, Ellsworth didn’t
mention a word.
Pushing Ellsworth’s hand away, Harriet felt unsettled by his
behavior today–she couldn’t figure him out.
After Harriet pushed his hand away, Ellsworth smiled again and
asked, “What, feeling guilty?”
Chapter 163
Harriet looked up. “What do I have to feel guilty about?”
But… seeing the way Ellsworth was staring at her, his eyes fixed
intently, Harriet said softly, “I admit, I went house hunting with
Kat over the weekend. I’m planning to buy a place.”
