At Harriet’s thanks, Kelsey smiled and said, “By the way, Hara, I 

wanted to ask you today if you could share some details about 

the core of your patent technology. I’ve been getting into this 

field lately, so I’m really interested.” 

At Kelsey’s sense of entitlement, Harriet held her coffee cup in 

her right hand and looked up at her. 

Harriet stared at Kelsey for a long moment before finally saying, 

“Kelsey, the patent technology is a project Galaxy Innovations is 

currently developing. Even if the product were already on the 

market, I still couldn’t share technical details with you. That 

would harm Galaxy Innovations‘ interests.” 

Looking straight at Kelsey, Harriet found it unbelievable. 

How could she even ask about something so confidential? 

At Harriet’s reminder, Kelsey didn’t get angry. She just kept smiling, “Hara, you’ve already received your patent fee. Don’t be 

so serious! I just want to learn a bit. If you want, I can pay you 

another patent fee, okay? Let’s just treat it as a private 

exchange between friends.”

Whether it was her or Ellsworth, whatever they asked Harriet to

Even that night at the hotel, when the Townsend family asked 

her to handle the rumors about her and Ellsworth, she did it 

without a word. 

Her family didn’t have much money, so a little cash was enough 

to settle things. 

At Kelsey’s nonchalance, Harriet calmly set her coffee back on 

the table, looked up at Kelsey, and said, enunciating each word, 

“Kelsey, I call you ‘sister‘ out of respect for your age, and 

because I don’t want to fall out with another woman over a

“But you’ve tried again and again to use my work, and now you

way, and left without looking back.

today had truly infuriated her.

It had been a long time since she was this angry, so Harriet’s 

fury lasted all the way until she got home from work that 

evening, and until she saw Ellsworth.

thinking about how Kelsey treated her like a fool, how Kelsey

was because of him. 

So, after opening the bedroom door, Harriet looked at Ellsworth 

and said coldly, “Ellsworth, let’s go submit the application 

tomorrow.” 

At the bathroom door, Ellsworth was drying his hair. He looked 

up and asked, “Did you swallow gunpowder?” 

After Ellsworth’s explosive remark, Harriet’s attitude softened. 

She spoke calmly and unhurriedly: “Your parents already know 

about this, and even your grandfather didn’t object, so it’s better 

to get it done sooner rather than later.” 

Harriet’s voice was always pleasant to listen to, even when she 

was angry, it was hard for anyone to stay mad at her.

Listening to Harriet, Ellsworth kept rubbing his hair and let out a 

short laugh: “My parents?” 

After laughing, he didn’t nitpick her words, just asked 

indifferently, “Weren’t we supposed to wait for the agreement 

from the legal department?” 

As soon as Ellsworth finished speaking, his phone, which was 

on the cabinet, started ringing. 

He turned around, walked over, and picked up the phone. It was 

a call from Kelsey. 

He tossed the towel he was using to dry his hair onto the 

cabinet, then stood by the floor–to–ceiling window to answer the 

call.
