Chapter 3
The next morning, I woke up to sharp pains in my belly. I struggled to get up and went to find Xavier.
He was lounging on the couch, legs crossed, scrolling through his phone. When the screen lit up, a smile played on his lips. I called his name several times before he finally looked up.
Seeing my pale face, he paused, then helped me sit down, his fingers massaging my shoulder lightly, but his tone was indifferent. “Rosalie, I can’t stay with you today. The pack has a big deal I need to handle.”
He spoke as if yesterday’s argument had never happened. He always did this-left me to deal with my emotions alone, as if ignoring the problem would make it disappear.
The pain made me grip his hand tightly, but his other hand was still busy texting, his fingers flying across the screen, completely ignoring my trembling body.
Suddenly, Hanna’s voice rang out from outside the villa, filled with familiarity. “Xavier, hurry up! They’re almost here!”
Xavier immediately let go of my hand and rushed to the door. I lost my balance and fell to the floor, accidentally knocking
his phone off the couch.
The screen lit up, revealing a group chat titled “Princess Hanna & Her Alphas.” I clicked on it, and my blood ran cold.
[Rosalie is such a drama queen. I always said she wasn’t fit to be Blackthorn’s Luna, but you insisted on claiming the mate
bond with her.]
[Every time she’s at a gathering, it’s so boring. You should’ve just been with Hanna. You two grew up together-you’re
meant to be.]

Hanna sent a tongue-out emoji and texted: [Lamy blithe a torey Latinot talk about that annoying Omega. Xavier said he’s giving me the yacht he just bought as a gift. I’m throwing a party on the sea!]
Xavier replied quickly: [Kowtow to me and call me Alpha Daddy, and not just the yacht-my life is yours.]
Hanna immediately sent a “kowtow” GIF and messaged: [Now your life is mine! I command you not to bring Rosalie today
-just me!]
Someone else chimed in: [Alpha, I saw Hanna packing a bikini. Who’s the real ‘birthday gift’ here?]
It felt like a bucket of ice water had been dumped over me. People can act, but pack dynamics don’t lie. When I first tried to integrate into their circle, everyone was friendly, but I mistook their politeness for genuine acceptance.
They were an impenetrable group, and I, the “outsider Luna,” would never be one of them.
The pain in my belly grew sharper. I took out my phone and snapped pictures of the chat. When Xavier returned for his phone, I was curled up on the couch, drenched in cold sweat.
He didn’t even glance at me, grabbing his phone and heading for the door. “Rosalie, some of the my friends want to join the yacht party. You’re pregnant-it’s not your scene. Stay home and rest.”
I was pale, clutching my belly, my voice weak but firm. “I’m in a lot of pain. Can you take me to the pack hospital?”
I was asking the question even though I already knew the answer-this was my final olive branch. If he still cared about what we had, if he was willing to stay, maybe we could work things out. But if he insisted on leaving, then I was done with
him too.
As we stood there, Hanna barged in, her tone impatient. “Hurry up, Xavier! What’s taking so long?”
