Chapter 2
Hanna, seeing this, stepped forward and wrapped her arm around Xavier’s neck, pulling him into a hug. She laughed, trying to diffuse the tension. “Alpha, listen to your Luna. Don’t be stubborn!”
She turned to me, her tone condescendingly soothing. “Luna, Xavier and I grew up together. He doesn’t even see me as a she wolf! Don’t take it so seriously. It’s not worth ruining your bond over.”
Then she whispered something in Xavier’s ear. He smirked reluctantly and looked at me, his tone dismissive. “My bad,
okay?”
At that moment, a wave of nausea hit me. I didn’t look back as I walked out of the room.
I didn’t expect Xavier to follow me, nor did I expect the sharp pains in my belly to grow more frequent as he trailed behind, complaining. “Are you losing your mind because of the pregnancy? Hanna’s like a sister to me. Are you really jealous of her? You might as well chain me to your side. Every time I talk to another Omega, you think I’m breaking our mate bond! Use your brain. If there was anything between us, would she have said it in front of you?”
Something inside me shattered.
“Right, there’s nothing between you two. I’m the one who’s being ridiculous. I shouldn’t care.” My voice trembled with anger, the dam of my emotions finally breaking. “I’ve had enough! When I was hospitalized for appendicitis, you went with her to pick out a dress for the pack celebration. When I was bleeding and trying to save our pup, you went with her to hunt rabbits on the outskirts of the territory. Every time I needed you, my Alpha, you were with your ‘sister’-until today!”
I gasped for air, tears streaming down my face. “She casually mentioned your inappropriate behavior in front of me, and you just went along with it, continuing to flirt with her. When I couldn’t take it and wanted to involve the enforcers, you didn’t stand by me. Instead, you called me crazy! Xavier, the moment you defended her and questioned me, our mate bond was already broken.”
There was no response when I finished.
Suddenly, Xavier’s voice softened, completely different from his earlier anger. “Don’t worry, I’ve got you. I’ll protect you this
round.”
I turned around sharply-he was on the phone with Hanna, wearing headphones. Those words weren’t for me.
The gentle murmurs and laughter from the bedroom continued late into the night.
I sat alone on the balcony, stroking my restless belly, my fingers cold. Finally, I called the pack hospital, my voice calm. “I’d
like to schedule a termination.”
