In the end, it was Harrison’s business rival, Lachlan Kingsley, who saved me.
He got me to the hospital, but the baby didn’t make it.
This surprised me.
In my last life, he was supposed to be on a flight to Autlia at this time.
When I woke up, I heard shouting.
I slowly opened my eyes and saw Lachlan and Tim blocking my hospital room door, holding back a furious Harrison.
“Lachlan, who the hell do you think you are, stopping me?” Harrison yelled. “What right do you have to

business?”
Lachlan sneered. “Have you no shame, Harrison? You hijacked Evelyn’s ambulance and left her to nearly bleed out on the operating table.”

to Lorelei, and the Prescott Group even officially announced the marriage alliance. That makes Lorelei your wife, not Evelyn. And as her friend, I have every right to stop her newly–dumped ex from harassing her!”
“That’s right!” Tim shouted angrily. “Get out!”
I lay in bed, listening to it all with a profound
numbness.
The Prescott family’s PR team had spun this fiasco into a modern–day fairy tale of true love.
How utterly ridiculous.
Harrison finally burst in and grabbed my hand.
“Evelyn, the situation with Lorelei is just a misunderstanding. I’ll fix it!”
He insisted that I was the wife he wanted and
demanded that Lachlan leave.

Harrison’s expression faltered. He was speechless.

He mumbled, “If you want to, we can go right now.”
I shook my head and laughed mockingly. “Are you sure? And how would you explain that to your parents? To Lorelei? To the public?”
I watched the color drain from Harrison’s face.
He persisted, “Evelyn, I know you’re angry. Just give me some time. I’ll handle everything and then give you the grand wedding you deserve.”
I asked, “Fine. How much time do you need? Six months? A year?”
