Kashton looked displeased, and his gaze at Lina was filled with growing annoyance.
Seeing that Romina didn’t respond, Lina answered cautiously, “Daddy Joaquin didn’t have time…”
“If he doesn’t have time, does my mom have to pick you up? She never comes to pick me up, but she’s here for you every day!”
Seeing the jealousy on his face, Lina quickly hid behind Romina.
Romina’s expression suddenly darkened. “Kashton, Lina is timid. Please speak to her more gently in the future.”
“Ms. Sandoval, Lina is just your friend’s child, and only Joaquin’s goddaughter. It’s really not appropriate for you to keep picking her up all the time. I heard you even live together?”
“This is our business. It has nothing to do with you.”
“It may not have much to do with me, but you don’t even pick up your own son, yet you pick up Joaquin’s child every day and even take care of her. If word gets out, aren’t you afraid of gossip?”
Romina’s tone was cold. “Since you’re so eager to pick up my son, I can only settle for second best and pick up someone else’s child.”
Nadine was momentarily speechless, her brows furrowing slightly
“Mom! For the past three years when you weren’t here, Dad and Nadi have always picked me up. She did a lot of things for you. You should be grateful to her, so why blame her?”

Kashton’s defense of Nadine reminded Romina of three years ago.
Back when she testified in court for this woman, she was just as aggressive.
Heh.
After ten months of pregnancy, she had really raised an ungrateful
child.
“I’m about to divorce your father. Your Nadi will take her place sooner or later, so let her get a head start on what it’s like to raise a son. Let’s see if being a ‘stepmother‘ is really that easy.”
Nadine was a bit infuriated, but with the child present, she couldn’t
retort.
Seeing that Nadine had nothing more to say, Romina withdrew her gaze and quickly left with Lina.
Evening approached.
Romina chose a decent restaurant and sent the address to Joaquin.
Joaquin
“Auntie Romina, is Uncle Joaquin coming soon?”
“Yes.” Romina reached out her fair hand and pinched her little cheek. “When Uncle Joaquin arrives, you have to start calling him Daddy Joaquin, not Uncle Joaquin anymore.”
“Okay, I’ll listen to Auntie Romina.”
“Looks like you really like Uncle Joaquin.”
Lina lowered her head and smiled softly, “Uncle Joaquin is actually very gentle. Every time he came to see Mom before, he always brought me gifts.”

“Is that so?” Romina smiled faintly. “Then, do you think Uncle Joaquin will bring you a gift this time?”
“I think he definitely will.”
A gentle smile appeared on Lina’s face, her eyes full of anticipation.
Five minutes later, there was a knock at the door.
Hearing the sound, Romina looked up and saw the waiter push open the door, followed by a tall figure.
Joaquin, dressed in a well–fitted suit and holding a large stuffed rabbit,
strode in.
When Romina saw this scene, she turned to look at Lina.
The two of them exchanged a smile instantly.
With this level of tacit understanding, there really was a father- daughter bond.
“Daddy Joaquin.”
Lina’s voice was not loud, but Joaquin still heard her clearly.
But he couldn’t help teasing, “What did you call me? I didn’t quite catch that.”
Seeing the man bend down with the stuffed rabbit and look at Lina, Romina couldn’t help but smile, her eyes curving with warmth.
Lina had autism and usually didn’t like to talk much, so Romina naturally understood his intention.
Seeing the child a little shy, Romina placed her hand on Lina’s back. “Lina, Joaquin brought you a gift. What should you say to Joaquin?”

“Thank you, Daddy Joaquin.”
This time, Lina spoke loudly, and a gentle smile appeared on her face.
“You’re welcome.”
Joaquin handed the stuffed rabbit to the child, and Lina quickly reached out to take it.
As dinner was drawing to a close, Joaquin looked up at Romina. “Ms. Sandoval, you invited me out today. I assume it’s not just for a simple meal, is it?”
As soon as these words were spoken, Romina’s hand holding the fork suddenly paused.
Lina had already finished her dinner and was playing with her bunny plush behind the screen.
Romina glanced at the child, then turned her head back to look at the man beside her, nodding gently: “Yes.”
Joaquin curled his thin lips into a smile, put down his fork, and picked up the napkin from the table. His demeanor was calm and elegant, and his noble aura made it hard for anyone to look away.
The man gently wiped his lips, his tone indifferent: “Go ahead.”
