Sad Tears 44

chapter44

“So, in other words, you found nothing at all?”

Joaquin tossed the documents in his hand onto the table.

A chilling sharpness flashed in his deep eyes, making those

around him feel as if they had fallen into an ice cave.

“Mainly, Ms. Sandoval’s background isn’t complicated…” Erick

paused, then seemed to remember something. “But I did find

out that Ms. Sandoval is handling the paperwork for a wellness

clinic. It seems she’s planning to open one herself.”

“Opening a wellness clinic?” Joaquin frowned slightly. “Where

is it located?”

“186 Zeria Avenue.”

It was the day after Hayden was discharged that Romina heard

he had already returned home.

She finally felt at ease and devoted herself fully to preparing

for the wellness clinic.

She had spent the past few days searching for a location for the

clinic, and finally settled on a property that Elliana had found

for her.

The place wasn’t large, but it was just right for a wellness clinic.

It was also not far from Breeze Vista, just a ten-minute drive. It

was located by the roadside, newly renovated, and didn’t

require any additional work.

The location had previously been used as a wellness clinic as

well, but the elderly owner had retired at his daughter’s urging

and decided to rent out the shop.

What Romina didn’t expect was that the person coming to sign

the contract was the old man’s daughter, Valery Murray.

The moment she saw the woman, Romina recognized her.

She was Nadine’s only friend outside the circle, and also one of

the people behind Romina’s imprisonment.

When Romina entered the wellness clinic, the woman was

sitting at the front desk in a long black dress, her figure graceful

and elegant.

Hearing the sound, the woman looked up, and Romina got a

clear look at her face.

When Valery met her gaze, her brows furrowed slightly.

“Romina? What are you doing here?”

“Signing the contract.” Romina glanced around. “Where’s the

old gentleman?”

Valery looked a bit surprised, but her tone carried a hint of sarcasm. “So the person interested in my father’s wellness clinic

is you?”

Only now did Romina realize that this wellness clinic actually

belonged to her father.

“I heard you just got out of prison and are already clamoring to

divorce Jericho. Now that you have nowhere to go, you plan to

use your second-rate medical skills to open a wellness clinic and

support yourself?” Valery curled her lips into a cold sneer.

“With your lousy skills, aren’t you afraid you’ll end up killing

someone?”

Her voice was light and indifferent, but her words were as

sharp as arrows, piercing straight into the heart.

In the past, she would have been angry, but now she felt

nothing at all.

“It’s not your place to judge my medical skills. I never liked this place much anyway. Since it belongs to Ms. Murray’s family, forget it!” Romina turned to leave. “You can rent it to someone

else!”

Even if she couldn’t find a good place, she would never rent

from someone close to Nadine.

It wasn’t that she was afraid of trouble, but she didn’t want to

invite unnecessary headaches.

Most importantly, it just felt wrong in her heart…

“You’ve already paid the deposit. How can you just back out

like that?”

Valery quickly stepped forward, her eyes flashing with a

chilling coldness.

She reached out to block Romina’s way, refusing to let her

leave.

At that moment, a childish voice suddenly came from outside

the door: “Mom, aren’t you breaking your promise?”

Hearing the voice, Romina looked up and saw Nadine entering

with Kashton.

It seemed Valery had known all along that she was the one

signing the contract, and had specially invited Nadine to come

and watch the show.

Did she bring her son along just to humiliate her together?

“That’s right! Ms. Sandoval, you should set a good example in

front of children. Otherwise, if Kash follows your lead in the

future, that wouldn’t be good, would it?”

Nadine took off her sunglasses, the corners of her lips curling

into a half-smile.

“If I had known the house belonged to her family, I wouldn’t

have come at all.”

Romina’s voice was low, her face completely indifferent.

Valery glared at her angrily, her voice rising a pitch. “Did my

family’s house offend you? You look down on my house, but I

look down on you!”

“Your house didn’t offend me, but you did.”

Her tone was cold and detached, speaking her true feelings.

“Let’s not mix things up.” Nadine frowned slightly, her gaze

falling on Romina’s face. “Ms. Sandoval, what happened back then was between you and me. Valery was just a witness who testified for me. If you have a grudge, take it out on me. There’s no need to end our cooperation over this, is there?”
