chapter27

“My mistake,” Elliana patted her own mouth, then laughed.

“But honestly, you and Joaquin together look way better than

you and Jericho ever did.”

At those words, Romina instinctively lifted her gaze.

Her eyelashes couldn’t help but tremble a few times.

“Stop it, Jericho hasn’t signed the papers yet. For now, we’re still

technically family…”

“Not for much longer,” Elliana gossiped. “I heard Joaquin isn’t

married yet. Why let a good thing go to waste? You should just

go for him. Then Jericho would have to call you Aunt Romina.

Just thinking about it feels great.”

Romina raised her hand and patted Elliana’s back. “I’m hungry.”

“Changing the subject,” Elliana said calmly as she took out the

lunchbox. “You’re good at that.”‘

For the next few days, Romina stayed in the hospital to recover.

Somehow, Hayden found out about Romina’s hospitalization

and insisted on visiting her.

Maybe it was the family dinner a few days ago that upset him; apparently, his heart wasn’t in great shape.

After much persuasion from his wife Lenora, he finally didn’t

come to the hospital to see Romina.

Because of this, Romina called him specifically and promised

that after she was discharged, she would visit the Bowman’s

mansion. Only then did Hayden feel more at ease.

During Romina’s three days in the hospital, Elliana spent her

days working and also helping her look for Lina.

At night, she would come to the hospital to keep her company.

Jericho and Kashton, however, never came again.

The night before she was discharged, they were scolded by

Elliana for an entire evening.

“The older one has no conscience, the younger one is brainless.”

“Just a couple of scoldings and they really never came back…”

Romina listened to her grumbling and just smiled quietly at the

side, never saying a word.

She actually knew very well that Elliana was standing up for

her.

Only this best friend of hers truly cared about her.

On the day of her discharge, Elliana received a notice early in

the morning that she had something important to take care of.

She left at six in the morning and said she could only help

Romina with the discharge paperwork after she finished her

work.

Romina waited and waited, but Elliana never showed up.

But if no one helped her with the discharge procedures, she

wouldn’t be able to leave the hospital.

She didn’t want to call Jericho.

After thinking it over, she finally opened the number she had

just saved a few days ago.

Unexpectedly, Joaquin’s number actually came in handy.

When the call connected, a man’s deep voice came through:

“Who is this?”

“Mr. Bowman, this is Romina…” She hesitated for a moment, but

finally said, “I know it’s probably not very appropriate to ask

you for this, but I don’t want to trouble Jericho. I wanted to ask

if you could help me with the discharge procedures?”

The man on the other end fell silent for a moment.

During those few seconds of silence, she had no idea what he

was thinking.

Romina originally thought Joaquin was looking for an excuse

to refuse her, or that he was busy or something.

She spoke again, “If you don’t have time, then…”

“I’ll be there in five minutes.”

Before she could respond, the call was cut off from the other

end.

Romina was stunned for a moment.

Five minutes.

It was about a five-minute walk from the parking lot to the

inpatient ward.

Could it be that he was already planning to come?

That made sense.

Joaquin was a very responsible person. She had gotten into

trouble at the orphanage, and he was the orphanage’s

benefactor.

He was coming to pick her up from the hospital, probably just

because she had saved the child.

Romina quickly changed clothes, waiting for Joaquin to arrive.

She deliberately opened the door, her gaze constantly looking

outside.

When she saw someone at the door, she quickly looked up.

The first figure she saw was actually Jericho.

She froze for a moment.

“What? Haven’t seen your husband for a few days and don’t

recognize me? Why are you looking at me like that?”

Jericho strode over, a hint of confusion in his eyes.

Romina frowned slightly. “What are you doing here?”

Chapter27

“If Grandpa hadn’t called me early this morning and told me to

pick you up from the hospital, I definitely wouldn’t have come.””

There was a trace of displeasure in his eyes.

It was only when Romina heard footsteps that she remembered

Joaquin was coming too.

If that was the case, wouldn’t they run into each other?

With Jericho’s personality, he would definitely keep asking

questions until he got to the bottom of it.

Even if he didn’t care about her, human nature was hard to
