Luna 4

Chapter 4 

As I sat on the bed at the private healing center, I listened to my best friend, Lara Oberlin, whispering beside me. 

A few seconds later, she was done and turned to me. “Don’t worry. It’s all arranged. 

Everything will go exactly as you planned.” 

I gave a slight nod, my voice calm. “Okay.” 

Just then, David knocked and entered. He held a medical chart in his hand, and his 

expression was very somber. 

“Diana,” he said solemnly. “I need to confirm your decision one last time before the procedure.” 

He opened the file and looked up at me, his tone carrying extra weight. “The pup is nearly full term. Terminating the pregnancy at this stage will cause significant harm to your body… It wasn’t easy for you to conceive this pup either. Are you absolutely sure about 

this?” 

I met his gaze, my eyes steady and unwavering as I replied, “I’m sure.” 

He hesitated a little before asking, “Don’t you have any family here with you?” 

With me? 

I let out a soft, bitter laugh. 

Those so–called loved ones who always claimed to act in my interest were the very ones scheming behind my back. They had lied to me and placated me, all while waiting for me to give birth so they could hand my pup over to someone else. 

I lifted my head, looked him straight in the eyes, and said quietly, “No one.” 

David paused, as if wanting to say more. But after a while, he only let out a long sigh and 

nodded to the nurse beside him.

“Take Luna Diana to the operating room,” he instructed. 

The wooden door closed slowly behind me. Absolute silence enveloped me, save for the soft beeping of the monitors. 

This was the first decision I had ever made solely for myself, and that was fine. 

Even without them, I would survive better than ever. 

After the surgery and before I had fully regained consciousness, a familiar voice reached 

my ears. 

“Nate’s been trying to reach you nonstop through the mind–link. When he couldn’t get 

through, he called me. I gave him a fake location, but I don’t think it’ll fool him for long,” 

Lara said. 

I opened my eyes and met Lara’s worried gaze. 

“How are you feeling?” she asked, cautious and gentle. 

I froze for a moment and instinctively placed a hand on my now–flat belly. My fingers lingered on the cool skin, as if trying to sense something, or maybe I was just 

unconsciously searching. 

When she saw my gesture, Lara asked softly, “Do you… regret it?” 

I didn’t answer. I just slowly clenched my hand until I felt a dull pain in my palm, then 

slowly let go. 

Regret? Not even close. 

There was only disgust. I was disgusted at the lies and also at myself for not realizing 

sooner. 

But thankfully, I didn’t let them win. 

A cold, faint smile played on my lips as I looked up. “Not even a little.”

I reached for the drawer beside the bed and pulled out a document I had kept hidden for a long time. 

“I’ve already filled out the application,” I said, my voice hoarse but steady. 

Lara took it and flipped it open. The moment she saw its contents, her expression froze. 

“Is this… an official request for the Alpha King to arbitrate?” she asked with widened eyes. 

I nodded and said, “Send it to the central arbitration court now.” 

Just saying “no” wasn’t enough to break a mate bond with an Alpha of a pack, not to mention that Nate would never agree to it either. 

Lara didn’t say more as she replied readily, “Sure.” 

After a slight pause, she added, “By the way, those moonstone mines you asked me to buy 

under my name have gone up in value. I’ll transfer them to you later.” 

I looked down and replied, “Alright.” 

After a moment of silence, I suddenly let out a soft laugh. 

A cold glint flashed as I told Lara, “Don’t let them find out too soon. Let me recover first. 

Then I’ll settle the score–one by 

one.”
