Chapter 44.
Christopher gently tucked a stray lock of her hair behind her ear and said softly, “Rosa, tell me, how did you manage to leave the hotel without anyone noticing, with all those cameras around?”
Rosalind said, “Maybe I know how to turn invisible.”
“Rosa, tell me the truth,” Christopher said. “I have to know. Otherwise, you’ll run away again, and I won’t be able to find you. But Eloise is a public figure-I can always find her. You don’t want her to get hurt again, do you?”
Knock, knock-
The main door to the room was knocked on.
Christopher’s assistant, Joshua, hurried over.”Mr. Foret, I’ve had people dismantle all the hotel vents and ducts. None of them were used.”
Christopher pondered for a moment.”Not the stairwell, not the ventilation ducts… Are you sure there are no blind spots in the hotel’s surveillance?”
Joshua said, “I’ve checked every single one. As long as Madam appeared anywhere in the hotel, there would be a trace. But we can only find footage of Madam and Ms. Werner checking in yesterday, and today of Madam taking the elevator upstairs. After that… she just vanished.”
Christopher raised an eyebrow.”Rosa, can you really turn invisible?”
No, impossible.
A living person must have found a way out-he just hadn’t found it yet.
Christopher’s gaze swept over Rosalind from head to toe like an X-ray.
Her clothes were clean and neat, showing no sign of having been smuggled out in trash or laundry.
And her black high heels were spotless. Her room was on the 26th floor-climbing in heels was impossible.
Wait, those black high heels-they looked familiar…
oshua recognized them at a glance. “Madam’s shoes! I saw them in the elevator surveillance footage!”
Christopher suddenly looked up-
He remembered too…
It was the woman Eugene was carrying, the one with her head covered…
Christopher’s gaze was fixed intently on Rosalind’s feet.
He frowned slightly, as if he found it hard to believe.
Ever since he started dating Rosalind, Eugene had been the only one among his brothers who didn’t like her.
He had gone to great lengths to try to break them up.
It was impossible for it to be Eugene.
But it was still best to double-check.

Chapter 44.
Right in front of Rosalind, Christopher called Eugene: “Want to grab a drink?”
Eugene’s voice sounded drowsy, as if he hadn’t fully woken up: “No, I’m tired.”
“What’s the point of sleeping? Bring your sister-in-law out, let her meet everyone.”
Eugene said, “I’ll go with you, but she’s exhausted these past couple of days. Let her get some proper rest.”
“It’s just a chat, not much effort. You have to bring her along.”
Christopher hung up and pulled Rosalind out the door.
Rosalind was uneasy:”Eloise…”
Joshua said, “Don’t worry, ma’am. I’ll stay here personally. No one will be able to do anything to Ms. Werner.”
Rosalind instructed in a low voice, “Find a female staff member to help her get dressed. Also, tell Charlotte not to mention today’s events to Eloise.”
Joshua looked at Christopher, as if waiting for his final order.
Christopher nodded, “What my wife says is what I say. Go ahead.”
“Yes, sir.”
When they reached the basement, the first thing Christopher did after getting in the car was lock the doors.
Rosalind said, “What, are you afraid I’ll jump out of the car?*
Christopher didn’t deny it:”Can’t be too careful.”
‘I value my life.”
‘I’m just afraid you’ll run off again.”
The drive was filled with silence between the two of them.
When they arrived at the bar, Christopher led her to a booth.
He told the waiter, “Three buckets of ice wine, and bring her a glass of hot milk.”
The waiter nodded and left.
Rosalind actually didn’t like wearing high heels, especially for interviews. She had even bought a pair of pointed stilettos just for the occasion.
They were indeed beautiful, especially the way they accentuated the slender lines of her legs, making them look long and graceful.
But they were truly a pain to wear.
Christopher noticed and immediately crouched down to take off her shoes, holding her foot to massage it.
Rosalind frowned and tried to pull her foot back, but Christopher scolded with a frown, “Don’t move. A massage helps with blood circulation, you’ll feel better. Why did you suddenly decide to wear high heels? Was it for that old
man?”
