Chapter141 

Ellsworth didn’t mention anything about last night, and Harriet 

felt a wave of relief. 

Hearing her words, Ellsworth bent over and leaned close to her, 

reached out to smooth her hair from her forehead, gazed at her 

for a moment, then returned to his desk to continue working. 

The room was very quiet, with only the sound of Ellsworth 

typing and birds chirping outside in the yard. 

After lying in bed for a while, Harriet got up. 

She folded the quilt, grabbed her clothes, and went to the 

bathroom, while Ellsworth continued working. 

Not long after, when Harriet came out looking fresh and tidy, 

Ellsworth had also tidied up. He then drove Harriet back to the 

Townsend’s mansion. 

On the way back, Harriet didn’t ask about the agreement, 

because the legal department had contacted her again a couple 

of days ago to confirm some details. 

Sitting in the passenger seat, after taking two work calls, 

Harriet suddenly turned to Ellsworth and said, “About last 

night’s dinner bill, I’ll transfer…” 

Before Harriet could finish, Ellsworth interrupted her with a 

smile, both hands on the steering wheel: “It’s fine, there’s no need to be so particular.” 

Since Ellsworth put it that way, Harriet could only say, “Then I won’t stand on ceremony. Thank you.” 

Ellsworth just smiled at Harriet’s thanks. 

Seeing this, Harriet turned her face to look out the window at 

the scenery, saying nothing more. 

Half an hour later, the car stopped in front of the villa. After 

Harriet got out, Ellsworth took her hand and led her inside. 

It was as if… the whole matter of divorce had never existed. 

When the two entered the house, Kathie was working overtime 

in the living room, organizing a project proposal. Seeing 

Ellsworth holding Harriet’s hand as they returned, Kathie looked 

at Ellsworth with an expression that was not only inscrutable, 

but also… distinctly disdainful. 

Letting go of Harriet’s hand and noticing Kathie’s odd look, 

Ellsworth picked up some documents from the coffee table and lightly tapped her with them: “What’s with that look?” 

Kathie scratched her hair. “You messed up my hairstyle.” 

At that moment, Patsy and Colin came downstairs. After greeting Harriet, Colin called Ellsworth upstairs to the study to discuss something. 

Patsy went to the kitchen to help with the cooking, while Harriet 

stayed in the living room to chat with Kathie. 

While Harriet was earnestly helping Kathie review the project 

proposal, Kathie lounged lazily, watching her, and said slowly, 

“Hara, my brother was acting strange last night.” 

As soon as Kathie finished speaking, Harriet looked up from the 

documents at her. 

Kathie looked at her and continued, “The way he looked at you 

was different, the way he took care of you was different, his 

eyes were so gentle. The most outrageous thing was, he 

actually kissed you in front of everyone.” 

“The way my brother was last night, it seemed like he likes you.” 

Harriet couldn’t really remember the details Kathie mentioned.

Holding the documents, she smiled and said, “Just a bit of 

tenderness before parting, I suppose.” 

But Kathie disagreed, saying seriously, “No, that’s not it. I’ve never seen him look at Kelsey with such gentle eyes.” 

Not knowing how to respond to Kathie’s words, Harriet changed the subject: “Maybe you misread it. Let’s look at the proposal- 

there’s still room for improvement.” 

She didn’t tell Kathie that last night they had almost lost control, nor that Ellsworth had nearly forced himself on her several 

times. 

While discussing the project with Kathie, Harriet’s resolve to 

separate did not waver. 

As the siblings had said, once she made up her mind, nothing 

could change it. 

Besides… she knew the distance between herself and 

Ellsworth. 

Ellsworth’s recent tenderness was only because she had brought up divorce; he was, to some extent, simply unwilling to 

let go.

Looking at Kathie’s project proposal, Harriet said gently, “Kat, you need to revise the budget section. This budget won’t pass 

the review.” 

“And the phase two construction plan is unreasonable. That 

needs to be changed as well.” 

Listening to Harriet’s suggestions, Kathie said, “Hara, my 

brother is really losing out by letting you go. He’ll definitely 

regret this divorce. I can’t wait to see him begging for your 

forgiveness.” 

Harriet smiled. “Alright, let’s just fix these items first.” 

After being neglected for three years, Harriet no longer wanted anything–she just wanted a clean break, with no lingering ties. 

“Hara, you’re back! Come here and let Grandma have a look–see if I’m about to become a great–grandmother.” 

While Harriet and Kathie were discussing work, Raymond and Tamera came in from the backyard. As soon as she saw Harriet, Tamera immediately asked about her great–grandchild. 

In the living room, seeing Raymond and Tamera approach, Harriet stood up with a smile to greet them: “Grandpa, 

Grandma.”
