“It’s you! You killed my parents! Just wait! When the police arrive, I’ll have you locked up!” He began to laugh maniacally. “But you are my wife; I’ll try to make things easier for you, considering you’re carrying my child.”
As he spoke, several police officers arrived at the door. Their faces were stern. The officer in charge
asked: “Who is Cole Braxton?”
Unanimously, we all looked at the only young man in the room. Naturally, I stepped forward and
said, “It’s him.”
The officer walked up expressionlessly: “Mr. Braxton, you are currently suspected of being involved
in a homicide case. Please come with us.”
Cole struggled: “What does this have to do with me?! It was Riley Thompson who sent my parents to the wilderness! The dead are my parents! I am the one who should be calling the police!”
The officer stated: “We already have conclusive evidence: chat records, witnesses, physical evidence. Mr. Braxton, you can have your family pack some belongings for you now.”
The smile inside me was impossible to conceal. I stood up and walked into the bedroom, starting to
pick out clothes for him.
I wasn’t worried at all that Cole could shift the blame for the murder onto me.
In this day and age, committing a crime and trying to frame someone else is harder than committing the perfect crime. There are surveillance cameras everywhere, and chat records are impossible to
erase completely.
Cole was still resisting: “No, you shouldn’t be arresting me…”
As the officers were about to take Cole away, he couldn’t help it. He turned and shouted at me: “Riley
Thompson! Hire me the best lawyer! You must get me out! Don’t forget, you’re carrying our child in
your belly!”
As soon as he finished speaking, he was escorted into the police car.
I turned around and saw my parents looking at me with deep concern.
Mom walked up and gave me another hug: “Sam, you’ve suffered so much.”

I, who had been holding strong until now, shed a tear because of this gesture.
I shook my head: “It’s okay, Mom. It’s all over now.”
Mom looked at my stomach: “Will you still keep this child? Whatever you decide, whether you want to keep the child or not, Mom supports your decision.”
I placed my hand on my stomach.
Because I had just eaten, my stomach was slightly rounded at that moment, truly looking like a
woman in the early stages of pregnancy.
But.
I smiled and opened my phone, showing Mom Cole’s medical test report.
“When I was preparing for pregnancy before, I specifically had both of us tested. I just didn’t expect… he has azoospermia. The count of viable sperm is practically zero. I even considered IVF, but the doctor spent a full four hours and couldn’t find a single living sperm.”
After saying this, I shrugged: “It was from that moment that I decided we would never have children
in this lifetime.”
To protect Cole’s fragile ego and for the sake of his pride as a man, I had never even mentioned this condition to him, let alone shown him the test report.
I had even told him that my tests showed my body wasn’t suitable for pregnancy, and if I did get pregnant, there was a high risk I could die from complications during childbirth.
I just never imagined he would secretly poke holes in condoms behind my back and arrogantly mistake my nausea from stomach problems for signs of pregnancy.
Hearing there was no child, my parents both breathed a sigh of relief.
