Chapter 3
I stared at her, stunned.
A crowd of employees was starting to gather.
“What was that? Did she just hit Miss Kacl?”
“That girl is crazy! She’s the one who blocked the elevator earlier!”
“Who is she? She acts like she owns the place!”
Desmond whispered to me.
“Should I call security?”
I nodded, but Stella yanked me away.
“I just had to show them who’s boss!” she hissed in my ear.
“Establish some authority! Don’t take it personally!”
“But don’t you dare interfere with me running things again, or next time…” She mimed another slap.
Who said you were family? When did this become your company?
SMACK!
I slapped her right back, just as hard.
“Just showing them who’s boss,” I said, my voice cold.
“Can’t have them forgetting I’m the real Kael heiress. This company will be mine one day.”
Stella clutched her cheek, her eyes turning dark. “Oh, really? We’ll see about that.”
Gasps rippled through the crowd. Phones came out.
“No way! Is she Mr. Kael’s secret love child? Here for an inheritance battle?”
“This is juicy! I’m posting this on Facebook!”

Chapter 3
Stella pushed through the crowd, swiped my card, and unlocked my dad’s office–the CEO’s office.
More gasps.
“She has the CEO’s key card! She must be somebody important!”
Sweat poured down my temples as I pushed toward the office, ignoring my colleagues‘ questions.
But Stella had already bolted the door from inside.
Frantically, I banged on the glass door–I couldn’t get in without my card.
Stella ignored me, circling the desk until she spotted a photo frame.
Her expression turned vicious.
She snatched it and smashed it on the floor.
It was my only childhood photo with both my mom and dad.
“Stella! What are you doing?! That’s the only picture I have with my mom!”
Her eyes glinted. She picked up the photo from the broken frame, holding it up for me to see.
And ripped it into tiny pieces.
