Lola showed no fear. Instead, she hooked her arm through Aidan’s: “What’s there to be afraid of? Do you think Emilia can keep her scandalous identity hidden for long? I heard President Martin is married with college–aged children.”
“Won’t these company rumors eventually reach his wife and children? By then, Emilia will be like a rat everyone wants to beat.”
I smiled: “You seem to know a lot about President Martin’s family.”
Lola lifted her chin proudly: “Of course! My cousin also works at Allen Group as the administrative manager and is highly favored by President Morris.”
“Really, Lola!” Aidan’s eyes widened with delight and disbelief, even the way he said “Lola” became
sweeter.
