Chapter 27. 

Latoya’s weak, pitiful cry had both Tristan and Cornelia in a frenzy. 

Cornelia immediately snapped, “Christopher, take Ms. Middleton to the hospital now!” 

Latoya curled up on the floor, her body writhing in pain, as if she were experiencing excruciating torment. 

“Christopher,” Tristan barked, delivering the final ultimatum. 

Christopher clenched his fists, his voice tight as he turned to Rosalind.“I’ll take her to the hospital first. Rosa, stay at home and wait for me.” 

“Wait, Rosalind called out, stopping him. “Remember that little asteroid you promised to buy me?” 

“Yeah, I remember. Why?” he asked, his brow furrowed. 

“The payment document has come through. I need your signature,” she said. 

Christopher glanced at her, “Now?” 

“Yes, now,” she replied firmly. 

He hesitated for a moment, then nodded. “Alright, let’s get this done quickly.” 

Christopher helped Rosalind carry the box upstairs, moving quickly. 

In the master bedroom, Rosalind opened the box with a knife and pulled out two documents. 

She handed them to him.“Sign these, and then take Latoya to the hospital.” 

Downstairs, the sounds of Latoya’s sobs, Tristan’s furious shouting, and Cornelia’s sharp reprimands filled the air, a cacophony of chaos that was nothing short of madness. 

It felt like the pressure of a noose tightening around his neck, or the ominous summons of death itself. 

Christopher, his nerves frayed, scribbled his name on the documents in a few quick strokes and handed them back to Rosalind.“Rosa, wait for me. I’ll be back soon.” 

Rosalind stood by the window, clutching the signed power of attorney documents, watching them leave in their car. Finally, she was left with some peace and quiet. 

She dialed Eugene’s number. 

Eugene picked up quickly.“Ms. Johansen?” came his voice. 

“Didn’t realize, Mr. Benitez, that your photography skills were so good,” Rosalind said dryly. 

The angle of the photos had been perfectly calculated, capturing moments that no amateur could have gotten without professional experience. 

Eugene chuckled lightly. “Well, we’re both professionals. When you asked me to meet that day, didn’t you hire a photographer to capture our little ‘moment‘?” 

“You knew?” Rosalind asked, surprised. 

“I’m a lawyer. Nothing escapes my eyes. But I’m curious, Ms. Johansen, what do you plan to do with those photos?”

Rosalind sneered. “If you still want to help me with my divorce from Christopher, meet me at the courthouse in thirty minutes.”

Thirty minutes later, Rosalind arrived at the courthouse to find Eugene already waiting for her. 

She couldn’t help but laugh. “Mr. Benitez, such a busy man, yet you can manage to be early.” 

“I was nearby. It didn’t take long,” he replied, his eyes falling on her ear. “Seems like it’s worse than before?” 

She’d almost been forced to sex by Christopher again, and the injury had reopened. 

Rosalind couldn’t focus on that right now; there was no time to waste. She had to act fast. 

She handed Eugene the signed power of attorney and then showed him the identification documents for both her and Christopher. 

“I’ve got everything. The sooner we finish, the better.” 

Thankfully, the courthouse wasn’t crowded today, so there was no need to wait in line. 

Rosalind slid the documents into the window and said firmly, “I’m here to file for divorce.” 

With Eugene’s presence, everything moved quickly. 

Rosalind barely said a word. It was all Eugene negotiating with the staff. 

She only spoke when they confirmed with her that the divorce was indeed her decision. She nodded firmly. “Yes.” 

Once everything was completed, Eugene smiled. “The first step is done. After the thirty–day cooling–off period, I’ll contact you to finalize the divorce.” 

Rosalind nodded. 

Eugene teased her lightly, “You’re really going through with the divorce? Afterward, you’ll probably never find someone with such good conditions again.”
