Chapter121
With that, Kathie hung up and looked at Harriet, saying, “Hara,
let’s go to Fredmolix Hotel later. Johnathan and the others are
playing cards there.”
Harriet looked up, “You go have fun. I’ll pass.”
Kathie said, “Why not? It’s the weekend tomorrow-playing a bit
won’t affect work.”
Harriet took a sip of soup and said softly, “I don’t know how to
play cards. Besides, Ellsworth will definitely be there, so I’ll skip
it.”
It was Friday, and if Ellsworth was there, Kelsey would probably
be there too. She didn’t want to join the crowd.
Besides, in all the years she’d been married to Ellsworth, she
rarely joined in group activities, because Ellsworth didn’t like
her. So she deliberately avoided them. The last time she joined
them for dinner was for Johnathan’s birthday.
It was also that day that she accidentally overheard Ellsworth
and Johnathan talking on the balcony, learning that Ellsworth
Chapter121
hadn’t signed the divorce agreement because he was afraid
she’d take his assets.
Kathie saw right through Harriet’s excuse and said bluntly,
“Hara, you’re just afraid Kelsey will be there and it’ll be awkward,
right? But you and my brother are legally married, and Kelsey is
shamelessly clinging to him, trying to use him to get into our
circle. Why should you feel awkward?”
“If anyone should feel embarrassed, it’s my brother and Kelsey,
not you. If I were you, I’d go over there just to put those two in
their place.”
Kathie was so fierce she even scolded her own family, which
made Harriet laugh.
Just as she was thinking how to respond to Kathie, Johnathan
-called her too.
Harriet picked up the phone, and Johnathan said, “Hara, you’re
having dinner with Kat, right? It’s the weekend tomorrow. Come
over with Kat and hang out for a bit.”
Hearing Johnathan’s invitation, Harriet looked across at Kathie,
who immediately said, “Say yes.”
Seeing Kathie’s decisiveness, Harriet withdrew her gaze and

said, “Alright, Mr. Burton, I’ll come over with Kat later.”
After that, Johnathan gave Harriet the details of the location,
and they hung up.
Across the table, Kathie saw that Harriet had agreed to
Johnathan’s invitation and said, “That’s the attitude! What, are
you going to avoid everyone after you divorce my brother? Are
you going to give up all your friends?”
Kathie’s righteous tone made Harriet laugh. “Yes, yes, Kat,
you’re right. I’ll listen to you from now on.”
Although she said that to humor Kathie, the truth was that ever
since she married Ellsworth, ever since she first started
avoiding him, she knew she would never be as close to
Johnathan, Darrick, and the others again.
After all, they were all Ellsworth’s good friends.
They hung out with her and treated her well back then only
because of Ellsworth.
After dinner, figuring Johnathan and the others were probably
still eating, Kathie dragged Harriet to the mall for a bit before
they headed to the hotel.
Chapter121
Johnathan had long-term reserved the presidential suite on the
top floor, not for anything else, just for everyone to play cards.
When the two of them pushed open the door and entered, they
found the room lively, everyone already at the tables-it was all
familiar faces from their circle.
Kathie had been in high spirits, rubbing her hands together,
ready for a big game. But when she saw Kelsey there, sitting
next to her brother with a big smile, practically hanging on him,
her face instantly darkened.
Kathie’s expression turned gloomy in an instant.
Although she had just advised Harriet to come over and deflate
Ellsworth and Kelsey’s arrogance, she still secretly texted
Johnathan afterward, saying she couldn’t stand anything
-unclean and asked him to take care of it.
Johnathan reassured her, saying Kelsey wasn’t there.
But when she pushed open the door, she saw Kelsey sitting steadily next to Ellsworth, and naturally, Kathie’s expression
soured,
Off to the side, when Harriet saw Kelsey and Ellsworth, she simply looked away, her demeanor calm and unruffled, showing

no emotional fluctuation.
She had expected this scene.
And she was used to it.
At the card table, when Johnathan saw Harriet and Kathie
coming over, he quickly got up to greet them.
Seeing him approach, Kathie crossed her arms over her chest,
shot Kelsey a cold glance, and asked irritably, “What’s going on
here?”
Hearing the question, Johnathan explained, “She wasn’t here at
first. She just called your brother and then came over on her
own.”
As he spoke, he nudged the two of them, saying, “Come on, let’s
go over there first. We can talk once we’re there.”
Reluctantly pushed over, Kelsey greeted them with a bright
smile as she saw the two approach: “Hara and Kat, you’re here!
Come, have a seat.”
Harriet showed little emotion, nodding slightly in response.
