She gave a cold, insincere laugh. “Mr. Ortega, my friend has left, so I’m leaving too. Suit yourself.”
With that, she got up to leave.
Seeing that she clearly didn’t welcome his company, Fulbert was secretly amused.
He stepped forward and grabbed her wrist, his fingertips brushing lightly along the inside of her wrist.
“We’re outside, and Florentino’s spies could be anywhere. If we pretend not to know each other after running into each other, wouldn’t that arouse suspicion?”
Sandria pressed her lips together. That reason was hard to refute.
So in the end, she didn’t try to break free.
Before getting in the car, Fulbert remembered he’d had drinks at the bar and called for a designated driver.
Sandria raised an eyebrow. “Why aren’t you driving me today? Tired after just a few acts?”
Fulbert didn’t mention a word about standing up for her at the bar.
“I had a business lunch and drank a bit. What, do you actually enjoy having me as your driver?”
“Of course.” Sandria gave a charming smile and brushed his brow with her hand. “Mr. Ortega, someone as mysterious as you driving me around? I couldn’t be more delighted.”
The cool touch of her fingertips carried a faint fragrance, a scent unique to her.
Fulbert lowered his eyes slightly, hiding the storm in his gaze, then caught her hand.
“Then I’ll keep being your driver from now on.”
Sandria, “…”
How could he be so shameless? Was that what she meant?
Withdrawing her hand, Sandria sat by the window, too lazy to pay any attention.
It took quite some effort to get back to the apartment, and before going in, Sandria couldn’t hold back.
She narrowed her eyes slightly and let out a cold snort.
“Mr. Ortega, if you want to hear something in the future, just stand in front of me openly. There’s no need to hide in the back and eavesdrop. What if I mistake you for some pervert and punch you? That handsome face of yours would be in trouble…”

Chapter 73
“Bang!”
The door was slammed shut.
Fulbert let out a low chuckle. Was she angry?
Back home, after washing up, Sandria took out her phone.
But when she looked at it, she frowned slightly.
There were several new chat windows in WhatsApp.
Surprisingly, they were messages from Florentino’s group of friends.

In the past, whenever Florentino got dead drunk, these good buddies would ask her to pick him up from the bar.
But after breaking up with Florentino, she had forgotten to delete their contacts.
Sandria tapped open Shane’s chat window.
“Ms. Schroeder, what we said at the bar today was just drunken nonsense. Please don’t take it to heart. Just treat what I said as hot air.”
Shane, that spoiled rich kid, was actually apologizing to her?
She swiped her finger and opened the message pages from the others.
“Ms. Schroeder, there was a misunderstanding about what happened today. I don’t know if the drink you threw at me helped you vent your anger. You’re right, I do have a foul mouth, and you were right to teach me a lesson…”
“If possible, could you please explain things to Bert? After all, we’ve known each other for so many years. Even if we can’t work together, we shouldn’t have to stop being friends.”
Fulbert?
Looking at their pleading tone, Sandria tilted her head. So, did something else happen after she left the bar?
Did Fulbert stand up for her?
Sandria was just as surprised as Shane and the others.
She swiped through her phone and typed a message to Fulbert’s chat window.
“Did you get involved in the bar incident? I heard you also canceled your cooperation with those people? Were you standing up for me?”
After sending the message, the other person’s chat window kept showing ‘typing…”
It was a long time before a reply finally came.
