Chapter55
Because of the earlier commotion, quite a few people already knew.
Hundreds of eyes turned on her at once, like searchlights.
Some were curious, some scrutinizing, but most couldn’t hide their contempt and schadenfreude.
Yet they only dared to whisper among themselves.
“My god, I’ve never seen anything like this. Florentino kicked out the real Schroeder heiress for an adopted daughter? He must be regretting it now!”
“In the end, it’s just luck–she picked the right family to be born into.”
“Exactly! Look at Adalynn from the second branch–she’s the real heiress, raised properly from childhood. As for this one… probably just has a pretty face. Even in the Schroeder family, she’ll be at the very bottom.”
Sandria overheard some of it, but what did it matter?
Sooner or later, she would make them look up to her.
In all those years of pleasing Florentino, she had learned far more than just bedroom skills.
Ashlan personally introduced her to several important business leaders, then went off to attend to other matters.
Sandria stood alone in a corner, observing the guests.
At that moment, a group of young ladies, all dressed to the nines and holding wine glasses, surrounded her.
The girl in the lead wore a pink cocktail dress, her chin held high.
“Ms. Schroeder, I’m Gracie Nicholson. Congratulations, you’ve finally returned to your roots.”
Though the words sounded congratulatory, the sarcasm in her tone was obvious from a mile away.
Sandria curled her lips, her smile unchanged.
“Thank you.”
Seeing her calm reaction, Gracie assumed she didn’t understand and her contempt grew even stronger.
“Sigh, Ms. Schroeder, you really are lucky. Unlike us, born into this circle, forced to learn endless rules from child- hood, never allowed to make a single mistake.”
She deliberately sighed, her voice just loud enough for everyone nearby to hear.
“Ms. Schroeder, you’re so pretty–you must have had plenty of admirers, right? Oh, I almost forgot, that Tino just now

was one, wasn’t he? The Burnham family… doesn’t seem all that impressive.”

“Now that you’re in the Schroeder family, you should have Ashlan introduce you to some more suitable matches in our circle. Don’t go treating trash like treasure. Oh, Ms. Schroeder, I’m just joking with you–you don’t mind, do you?”
After she finished, the mockery on the girls‘ faces became even more obvious, and they all burst out laughing.
Yet Sandria did not feel the slightest bit embarrassed. Instead, she blinked her long, fan–like eyelashes and nodded.
“That’s right, I’m good–looking, so of course I’ve been pursued by many people. Unlike you–you’re so ugly. I bet no one’s ever chased after you, right?”
After saying this, she felt a bit regretful.
Covering her mouth, she spoke in a sweet, delicate voice, “Oh dear, Ms. Nicholson, I was just joking with you. You won’t be mad, will you?”
Gracie, on the other hand, was about to explode with anger.
She really wasn’t good–looking, and ever since she was a child, the thing she hated most was people saying she was unattractive.
She never expected that today, she would be insulted to her face by this down–and–out heiress the Schroeder family had just found.
Her face twisted with rage. “You dare call me ugly? Sandria, you’re just a wild girl who was only just found–how.c you be so arrogant? Do you believe I’ll…”
But before she could finish, a cold, clear voice came from the side.
“Do you believe what?”
Everyone turned to look and saw Carolina walking over.
Gracie immediately turned her head with a hint of grievance. “Carolina! She… she just called me ugly.”
She and Carolina were from the same social circle. Surely Carolina was here to back her up?
But Carolina didn’t say a word, only shot Gracie a cold glance.
That look made Gracie’s heart skip a beat.
Carolina’s voice was calm, but carried an undeniable pressure.
