As soon as she said this, the smile on Nancy’s face became a bit forced. 

Her gaze became more scrutinizing. This wretched girl–what does she mean by saying that as soon as she returns? 

Is she hinting that she wants to fight for the inheritance? 

Fortunately, at that moment, Ashlan spoke up in a timely manner, his tone a bit cold. 

“That’s enough, Second Aunt. Sandy just got back, and as for rules and such, I don’t think she’s done anything inap- propriate.” 

“Grandpa, we’ve met everyone now. There are still guests in the banquet hall downstairs who need to be attended to, so I’ll take Sandy down with me.” 

After saying this, he gave Sandria a look. Sandria exchanged a few more words with Bryant before leaving. 

Once they were outside and standing in the corridor, Sandria finally let out a slow breath. 

In less than half an hour of this brief encounter, she could already tell–the Schroeder family was truly a mess. 

Everyone had their own little schemes. 

So far, it seemed that only Grandpa and Ashlan genuinely welcomed her return. The rest saw her as a thorn in the side. 

Managing a company like this must be exhausting for Ashlan. 

At this moment, Ashlan’s expression didn’t look good either. 

He could clearly see through Nancy’s calculations and scheming just now. 

“Sandy.” 

He spoke, his voice steady and strong. 

“In a moment, I’ll have Mr. Williams come over. Twenty percent of the shares in the Schroeder Group will be trans- ferred directly to your name. Also, the estates in the east of the city and several overseas islands–Grandpa has set them aside for you as well.” 

“In this family, with us backing you, we will never let you be bullied.” 

Sandria was stunned. She looked up at Ashlan. 

Twenty percent of the Schroeder Group’s shares! 

That was a fortune most people couldn’t even imagine in a lifetime!

But without a second thought, she immediately refused. 

“Ash, I don’t want it.” 

Ashlan looked at her, his brows furrowing ever so slightly. 

“Why? Sandy, all of this is what the Schroeder family owes you. It’s what you rightfully deserve. You don’t need to care what others say.” 

Ashlan’s voice grew anxious. He thought she had been intimidated by the second aunt and her family’s attitude carlier. 

Looking at her anxious brother, Sandria suddenly smiled. 

“Ash, what are you thinking? Don’t get me wrong, I’m no saint who doesn’t care about money.” 

Her tone was shockingly candid. 

“With so much real money, who wouldn’t be tempted? I dream about having it.” 

“Then why…” 

Ashlan was even more confused. 

“Because if I take it now, it wouldn’t be proper or justified.” 

Her voice grew cold and sharp. 

“If I take it now, what does that make me? A girl who was lost for years, suddenly parachuted back, relying o Grandpa’s affection and my brother’s protection to get something for nothing?” 

“What will those people–those who laughed at me today–say about me?” 

“They’ll just think that I, Sandria, am nothing but a lucky fool. Without the Schroeder family, I’m nothing at all.” 

She stood up and walked to the floor–to–ceiling window, overlooking the night view of Glottenham. 

“Ash, I’ve lost so many years of my life, and I can’t get them back. But what belongs to me, I want to take back with my own hands, one by one, fair and square.” 

Her words echoed in the quiet corridor. 

Every sentence radiated an unyielding pride and a burning ambition. 

Ashlan smiled. “Good! Then I’ll hold onto the shares for you for now. But remember, the Schroeder family will al- ways be your strongest support! Whatever you want to do, go for it! If the sky falls, your brother will hold it up for you!” 

Sandria turned around, her smile brilliant. 

“Thank you, brother.” 

Downstairs, the banquet hall was still bustling. Ashlan publicly announced Sandria’s identity in front of everyone.
