Courtney’s body suddenly trembled. 

She lifted her head, her face as pale as paper, all color drained, her eyes filled with utter terror and despair. 

The Chapman family. 

The family she never wanted to mention again in her life. 

The disgrace of her broken engagement was the deepest, dirtiest secret in her heart. 

Sandria… how could she possibly know? 

The guests, who had just recovered from the shocking revelation about the Schroeder family’s real and fake heiresses, were immediately intrigued by this new piece of gossip. 

“The Chapman family? The Chapman family from South End?” 

“Courtney was once engaged to the eldest son of the Chapman family? How come I’ve never heard of that?” 

“She was dumped? There must be a story behind this!” 

The buzz of gossip sounded like flies, buzzing in Florentino’s ears. 

He suddenly turned his head, glaring fiercely at the collapsed Courtney. 

For this woman, he had abandoned Sandria, offended the Schroeder family, and ruined his own company.

Florentino looked at her panic–stricken, desperate attempts to call for help, and whatever feelings he had left for her vanished completely. 

He found the Courtney before him utterly unfamiliar and repulsive.

Florentino spat out the word through gritted teeth, unable to bear looking at her for another second. 

He staggered to his feet, ignoring his own disheveled state, and turned to leave. 

For the Burnham family, this banquet had ended in utter disgrace; staying any longer would only bring more shame. 

“Tino!” 

Seeing him about to leave, Courtney panicked completely and scrambled after him. 

“Don’t go, listen to me,

Her shrill cries echoed through the vast banquet hall, but only drew even more scornful laughter from the ts. 

The farce finally ended with the disgraceful exit of two clowns.
