Chapter111
Ellsworth raised his hand to remove hers. “I’m going back to the Townsend’s mansion later. Find someone else to go with you.”
Ellsworth wouldn’t let her get close. Kelsey’s expression froze,
her hands left hanging in midair.
When she came back to her senses and saw Ellsworth had rejected her invitation, she looked disappointed, but finally managed a smile and said, “Alright, then let’s go together next
time.”
Ellsworth didn’t respond, just kept typing on the keyboard, still
busy with work.

Meanwhile, at the real estate agency, after Harriet got the
information she needed, she went back to the Chavez’s
mansion to see her grandfather.
She didn’t tell Ralph about her plan to buy a house.
Ralph was getting old, and she didn’t want to trouble him with
every detail about her and Ellsworth. Telling him would only add
Chapter 111
to his worries.
Ralph had a chess companion today, so Harriet rested her chin
in her hand and quietly watched the two old men play chess.
A little after five, while the sun was still up, Harriet’s phone rang.
She took her phone out of her pocket and saw it was Ellsworth
calling, so she got up and stepped aside to answer.
She asked calmly, “What is it?”
On the other end, Ellsworth said, “Mom wants us to come home
for dinner. Where are you?”
Harriet glanced back at Ralph playing chess and replied softly,
“I’m at home with Grandpa. I’ll go over by myself.”
Ellsworth: “I’m nearby. I’ll come get you.”
After Ellsworth hung up, he drove over in just a few minutes.
He spent some time with Ralph, played two games of chess
with him, and then took Harriet’s hand to lead her away.
As they walked out of the yard, Harriet naturally pulled her hand
back and went to open the back car door.
Chapter 111
But she couldn’t open it.
Looking down at Ellsworth, who was already in the car, Harriet
reminded him, “The door is locked.”
In the driver’s seat, Ellsworth looked back at Harriet and said
nonchalantly, “The front door isn’t locked.”
Harriet didn’t move, just said calmly, “I’ll sit in the back.”
Looking back at Harriet, Ellsworth was amused.
After laughing, he said, “Get in. It’s a new car. No one’s ever sat
in the passenger seat.”
“…” Harriet.
…
She hadn’t expected Ellsworth to have replaced his car with a
brand new one that looked exactly the same.
The sun was blazing. Harriet glanced back at the courtyard, not
wanting to argue with him in front of her own house, and finally
got into the passenger seat.
Soon after, the car started, and Harriet turned her face away,
watching the traffic outside.
In the past, whenever she was with Ellsworth, she would always
Chapter111
try to find something to talk about, always afraid of awkward
silences.
Now, she actually preferred the quiet, preferred not to say
anything at all.
With both hands on the steering wheel, Ellsworth occasionally
glanced at Harriet, but didn’t ask about her plans to buy a
house.
Soon, the car stopped in front of the villa. They got out and
went inside together.
In the living room, Tamera was quietly watching TV, not playing
on her phone like she had in the past.
Because her phone had been confiscated.
Seeing Harriet return, Tamera immediately brightened up and
hurried over with a big smile. “Hara, you’re back! It’s been a long
time since you visited Grandma.”
Taking Tamera’s hand, Harriet smiled and said, “Grandma, work
has been a bit busy lately. I’ll come visit you more often when I
have time.”
At Harriet’s promise, Tamera held her hand and secretly asked,
Chapter111
“Hara, Ells hasn’t secretly divorced you behind my back, has he?
Lately I’ve been dreaming about you two-Ells losing his mind,
and you refusing to take him back.”
After Tamera finished, Ellsworth glanced up at her.
That look seemed to say, ‘Your dream is pretty accurate.’
With a forced smile, Harriet reassured Tamera, “Grandma, of
course not.”
The divorce certificate hadn’t been obtained yet; they were still
in a tug-of-war.
She hadn’t expected that, even though she asked for nothing,
Ellsworth still hadn’t signed, and they had dragged things out
this long without even submitting an application.
Harriet was still willing to comfort her, still cared about the old lady’s feelings. Tamera held her hand again and asked, “Hara, you’ve been away from the company for a while now and have
seen the outside world. When do you plan to come back to
work?”
Tamera kept pushing, so Harriet glanced at Ellsworth, only to
see him acting as if nothing was wrong, picking up a magazine
from the coffee table and crossing his legs to read.
